Role overview

This is a full stack role on Angular and .NET Core, and REST APIs sit at the centre of it. You will build the APIs in .NET Core and consume them in Angular, so you own the contract on both sides: the endpoint and its payload, status codes and errors, and the services and screens that call it.

Day to day that means writing API controllers, services and data access in .NET Core, then the Angular components, services and interceptors that use them. The work spans internal portals and customer facing applications, from first wireframe through to release and production support.

Key responsibilities

Design and build REST API endpoints in .NET Core: controllers, services, validation, error handling and data access.

Consume those APIs in Angular through typed services and models, interceptors, authentication tokens, pagination, retries and error handling.

Own the API contract end to end, agreeing payloads, status codes and validation rules before development starts.

¢ Build and maintain Angular components, reactive forms and routing for new screens and for changes to existing ones.

¢ Write reactive code with RxJS for API calls, including cancellation, debounce and combined requests.

¢ Manage application state so screens stay consistent when several API calls are in flight.

¢ Build and consume file upload and download endpoints, and long running or asynchronous operations.

¢ Test endpoints in Postman or Swagger before wiring them into the UI, and keep a working collection for the team.

¢ Debug issues end to end, from the browser network trace through the API to the database.





¢ Write unit tests on both sides, and keep API calls mocked in front end tests.

¢ Support releases and fix production defects, whether they sit in the UI, the API or the data.

Essential skills and experience

¢ 7 to 8 years building production applications in Angular (version 12 or later) with TypeScript.

¢ Expert level .NET Core Web API: designing and building REST endpoints, routing and model binding, dependency injection, middleware, authentication and authorisation, API versioning, and Entity Framework Core or Dapper for data access.

¢ Proven experience integrating front ends with REST APIs, not just consuming a mock or a finished service.

¢ Strong RxJS: observables, operators, subscription handling and avoiding memory leaks.

¢ HttpClient, interceptors, route guards, lazy loading and Angulars module or standalone component structure.

¢ Deep working knowledge of HTTP itself: methods, status codes, headers, query and path parameters, content types and CORS.

¢ JSON handling and mapping API responses into typed models on both sides.

¢ Token based authentication (JWT or OAuth 2.0), including issuing and validating tokens in the API and refreshing them on the client.

¢ Reactive forms with validation, including validation driven by API responses.

¢ HTML5, CSS3 and a component library such as Angular Material, PrimeNG or Bootstrap.

¢ Git,

¢ Day to day use of AI coding tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude or ChatGPT: writing valuable prompts, and using them to scaffold components, draft tests and API clients and review code, while reading and testing the output before it ships.

¢ A smart working approach: automate repetitive work, reuse what already exists, and take the simplest solution that holds up instead of rebuilding from scratch.

¢ Clear written and spoken English, and the ability to define an API contract and hold both ends to it.

Leadership

¢ Lead a feature or module end to end, from agreeing the API contract through to release and post release support.

¢ Mentor junior developers through code review, pairing and feedback on their Angular and .NET code.

¢ Break a requirement into tasks, estimate them, and flag slippage early rather than at the deadline.

¢ Set and hold engineering standards: project structure, shared services, reusable components and naming.

¢ Represent the team with QA and business stakeholders, and own the technical decisions that come out of those conversations.

Desirable skills

¢ SQL Server or PostgreSQL: writing queries and stored procedures, and tuning the ones behind slow endpoints.

¢ Experience with third party or industry APIs, including rate limits, sandbox environments and webhook callbacks.

¢ NgRx or a similar state management library.

¢ Unit and end to end testing with Jasmine, Karma, Jest, xUnit or Cypress.

¢ CI/CD pipelines, and familiarity with Azure or AWS hosting.

¢ Experience in a regulated or data heavy sector such as energy, finance or utilities.
