Position Title: Account Manager Accounting & Financial Operations
Reporting To: Process Manager / Client Lead
Location: Pune Office
Shift: 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM (Night Shift)
Role Summary
We are looking for a hands-on Accounting Manager who will own delivery for a key US client, with a strong preference for candidates who have experience in the entertainment, event management, media, or related industries.
This role goes beyond preparing or reviewing workpapers. The focus is on ensuring timely delivery, asking the right questions, identifying financial risks and anomalies, and driving continuous improvement in financial outputs.
The ideal candidate will act as a bridge between the client and the offshore delivery team, taking full accountability for outcomes, timelines, quality, and client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Delivery Ownership & Client Management
- Own end-to-end delivery of accounting and financial outputs for the client.
- Ensure all deliverables are completed on time, every time.
- Translate client expectations into clear, actionable tasks for the team.
- Proactively identify gaps, inconsistencies, or opportunities for improvement in financial data and reporting.
- Ensure client queries and open items are tracked through to resolution.
Team Leadership & Accountability
- Manage, guide, and hold the offshore team accountable for assigned work.
- Set clear priorities, deadlines, and expectations.
- Follow up rigorously on pending items and unresolved issues.
- Review team output for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with client requirements.
- Step in directly when delivery is at risk.
- Coach team members and build a strong culture of ownership and accountability.
Proactive Financial Thinking
- Review financials with a mindset of “Does this make sense?”
- Ask questions before the client has to.
- Compare current vs. prior periods and identify unusual trends, variances, or transactions.
- Understand the business context behind financial numbers rather than simply processing transactions.
- Identify potential accounting, reconciliation, sales tax, or reporting issues proactively.
- Drive improvements rather than repeating the same processes year over year.
Client Communication
- Act as the primary point of coordination for delivery-related matters.
- Provide structured status updates to the client and internal stakeholders.
- Raise risks, delays, and dependencies at an early stage.
- Ensure the client does not have to repeatedly chase for updates or corrections.
- Participate in client calls and confidently discuss accounting matters, open items, and financial observations.
Process Improvement
- Identify recurring issues and implement corrective actions.
- Improve documentation, trackers, reconciliations, and delivery discipline.
- Standardize accounting and review processes wherever possible.
- Identify opportunities for automation and process optimization.
- Build a culture of ownership and continuous improvement within the team.
Required Skills & Experience
- 6–10 years of relevant experience in US Accounting and Financial Operations.
- Strong preference for candidates with experience in the Entertainment, Event Management, Live Events, Production, Hospitality, or other related industries.
- Prior experience managing offshore accounting teams serving US-based clients.
- Strong understanding of US GAAP, financial statements, reconciliations, month-end close, and US Sales Tax.
- Experience handling accounting operations involving multiple revenue streams, vendors, events, projects, or client-specific financial requirements will be preferred.
- Solid analytical ability with a focus on understanding why numbers change, not just recording transactions.
- Excellent follow-up, prioritization, organization, and time-management skills.
- Confident communicator who is comfortable questioning data, assumptions, and accounting treatment.
- Experience working with QuickBooks Online (QBO), Stripe, Excel, MS Office, and ERP/accounting portals.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and take ownership of client deliverables.
- Fluent English communication skills – both verbal and written – are mandatory.
- Strong client-facing skills and the ability to communicate professionally with US-based stakeholders.
- Willingness and ability to work 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM IST from the Pune office.
Education & Professional Qualification
- CA Inter / CA Final candidates are strongly preferred.
- Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification is highly preferred.
- Candidates pursuing CA at the Inter or Final level with strong relevant US accounting experience may also be considered.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field is required.
- Additional professional qualifications such as CPA, CMA, ACCA, or equivalent will be an advantage.
Industry Experience Candidates with prior accounting or financial operations experience in the following industries will be preferred:
- Entertainment and Media
- Event Management and Live Events
- Concerts, Festivals, and Touring
- Talent / Artist Management
- Hospitality and Venue Management
- Sports and Sports Entertainment
- Advertising and Creative Agencies
Travel & Documentation Requirement
- Valid Indian passport is mandatory.
- A valid US visa is required, preferably with eligibility to travel to the United States for client meetings, training, or business requirements.
- Candidate should be willing to travel to the US, if required, based on client/business needs.
