Job Description: Paint Shop Executive / Paint Shop Operator

1. Job Purpose

To carry out painting operations for fabricated components, machine parts, and industrial equipment while ensuring proper surface preparation, paint quality, finishing, and compliance with safety standards.

2. Key Responsibilities

- Perform surface preparation activities such as cleaning, degreasing, grinding, sanding, and rust removal.
- Operate spray painting equipment, spray guns, compressors, and other painting tools.
- Apply primer, intermediate coats, and final paint coats as per company specifications.
- Ensure proper paint thickness, uniform coating, colour matching, and finishing quality.
- Prepare paint mixtures by following the specified ratios and instructions.
- Inspect painted components for defects such as runs, sags, pinholes, uneven coating, and peeling.
- Follow paint shop procedures, production schedules, and quality standards.
- Maintain painting equipment, tools, and the paint shop area in positive working condition.
- Follow safety procedures for handling paints, thinners, chemicals, and other hazardous materials.
- Maintain records of paint consumption, production output, and inspection results, as applicable.
- Coordinate with the production and quality teams to resolve painting-related issues.
- Minimize paint wastage and ensure proper utilization of materials.

3. Educational Qualification

- ITI / Diploma in Painting, Mechanical, Production,



or a related trade is preferred.
- Candidates with relevant industrial painting experience may also be considered.

4. Required Skills

- Knowledge of industrial painting and surface preparation techniques.
- Experience in spray painting of fabricated components, machinery, or industrial equipment.
- Understanding of primer, paint, thinner, and coating applications.
- Basic knowledge of paint quality inspection and finishing standards.
- Ability to follow work instructions and safety procedures.
- Attention to detail, discipline, and teamwork.

5. Experience Requirements

For Paint Shop Operator:

- 1–3 years of experience in industrial spray painting.
- Hands-on experience with spray guns, surface preparation, and paint application.

For Paint Shop Executive:

- 2–5 years of experience in industrial painting operations.
- Ability to supervise painting activities, monitor quality, manage paint consumption, maintain records, and coordinate with production.

6. Safety Requirements

- Use appropriate PPE, including a respirator suitable for the paint and coating process, gloves, safety goggles, and protective clothing.
- Follow ventilation, fire prevention, and chemical-handling procedures.
- Maintain housekeeping and comply with workplace safety standards.

7. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

- Painting quality and finishing standards.
- Rejection and rework percentage.
- Production targets and on-time completion.
- Paint and thinner consumption.
- Equipment maintenance and workplace safety compliance.
