R&D; Executive – Personal Care Formulation

Job Summary

We are looking for an R&D; Executive – Personal Care Formulation to join our Application R&D; team. The candidate will be responsible for developing, testing and improving personal care and cosmetic formulations based on customer requirements and business needs.

The role involves hands-on laboratory work, formulation development, raw material evaluation, prototype preparation, stability testing, troubleshooting and maintaining proper R&D; documentation.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop and modify formulations for personal care and cosmetic products as per project and customer requirements.
- Prepare laboratory batches, samples and prototypes for new product development.
- Conduct formulation trials and optimize products for performance, stability, appearance and sensory properties.
- Evaluate and test raw materials, functional ingredients and cosmetic ingredients used in formulations.
- Conduct laboratory testing and record results accurately.
- Perform stability studies and monitor product performance over defined periods.
- Troubleshoot formulation-related issues and recommend suitable technical solutions.
- Refine formulations based on test results, customer feedback, and internal technical requirements.
- Maintain retained samples of developed formulations and prototypes.
- Prepare and maintain formulation sheets, laboratory records, test reports and product development documentation.




- Support basic product costing and formulation-related documentation.
- Coordinate with the R&D; Manager/HOD regarding project requirements, development status and technical issues.
- Participate in internal R&D; discussions and contribute ideas for new personal care product concepts.
- Ensure timely completion of assigned formulation projects and laboratory activities.
- Maintain proper housekeeping, safety and laboratory practices.

Product/Technical Exposure

Candidates with experience or interest in developing formulations for products such as:

- Skin Care Products
- Hair Care Products
- Face & Body Care Products
- Creams, Lotions & Gels
- Serums
- Cleansers & Face Wash
- Shampoos & Conditioners
- Personal Care and Cosmetic formulations
- Other specialty personal care formulations

Candidate ProfileEducation

- M.Sc. Chemistry preferred
- B.Sc. Chemistry may be considered based on relevant formulation/laboratory exposure
- Candidates with relevant education in Cosmetic Science / Pharmaceutical Science / related fields may also be considered based on experience

Experience

- 1–3 years of experience in Personal Care R&D;, Cosmetic Formulation, Application R&D; or Product Development.




- Experience with personal care/cosmetic ingredients and formulation development will be preferred.
- Freshers with strong Chemistry fundamentals and relevant formulation/laboratory exposure may be considered separately for a Management Trainee position.

Candidates from Personal Care, Cosmetics, Specialty Chemicals, Ingredients or related industries with hands-on experience in formulation development will be preferred.
