The American Association for Scientific Research and Technology (AASRT) is a research-focused organization working to support scientific research, knowledge sharing, technology, education, and collaboration across disciplines.

We are seeking a motivated Research & Science Communications Intern who is interested in gaining practical experience in scientific research, research writing, science communication, and digital outreach.

This is an opportunity for someone who wants to build experience that goes beyond social media marketing and develop skills relevant to research, scientific communication, academic publishing, and research organizations.

Role Overview

The intern will support AASRT with research-related projects while also helping communicate scientific topics to a broader audience.

The ideal candidate will be curious, research-oriented, a strong writer, and interested in science, technology, environmental research, healthcare, or other research-related fields.

Key Responsibilities

Research & Research Support

- Conduct literature searches and online research on assigned scientific and technology topics.
- Identify and summarize relevant research papers, reports, and credible scientific sources.
- Assist with developing research briefs, summaries, background documents, and educational materials.
- Help organize references, research resources, and research-related information.
- Support the development of potential research topics, projects, surveys, and collaborative initiatives.
- Assist with identifying emerging research trends and areas of scientific interest.
- Contribute ideas for future AASRT research programs,



publications, and educational initiatives.

Scientific Writing & Content

- Help write and edit research-based articles, blog posts, newsletters, and educational content.
- Translate complex scientific information into clear, understandable content for general audiences.
- Assist with creating summaries and promotional content related to research and scientific publications.
- Maintain accuracy and appropriate citation of scientific information.

Social Media & Outreach

- Help create research-focused posts for AASRT social media platforms.
- Develop content ideas, captions, graphics concepts, and short-form educational content.
- Assist with promoting AASRT research initiatives, publications, events, and activities.
- Research relevant scientific communities, organizations, researchers, and potential collaboration opportunities.
- Support basic digital marketing and audience outreach.

Qualifications

Preferred:

- Current undergraduate or graduate student, recent graduate, or early-career professional in science, technology, healthcare, environmental science, public health, engineering, data science, or a related field.
- Strong interest in research and scientific topics.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to find, evaluate, summarize, and communicate information from credible sources.
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
- Basic familiarity with Google Workspace or Microsoft Office.
- Interest in social media, digital communication, or science outreach is a plus.

Helpful but not required:

- Experience with academic or scientific literature searches.
- Experience with research papers, citations, or reference-management tools.
- Canva or other basic content-creation experience.
- Social media management experience.
- Data analysis, survey research, or academic research experience.
