The Quarry Editorial Content
- Write long-form editorial content, including material origin stories, quarry provenance narratives, geological history features, and design philosophy essays (500–1,200 words), with the authority and restraint of a published magazine piece.
- Write organic social content for The Quarry across Instagram, LinkedIn, and Pinterest—precise, restrained, and never promotional.
- Write and maintain website copy, including collection narratives, product descriptions, and every page that carries The Quarry's brand voice.
- Write campaign lines and campaign narratives for The Quarry.
Design First Editorial Content
- Write long-form content for Design First, including project narratives, client journey stories, designer philosophy pieces, and space descriptions that communicate design intent in a warm, personal, and deeply informed voice.
- Write organic social content for Design First across Instagram, LinkedIn, and Pinterest—warm, design-led, and personally intimate in register.
- Write the founder narrative for Design First, expressing the design vision, the Carlo Scarpa inspiration, and the Style Test philosophy as brand language.
- Write Design First's campaign concepts and copy, demonstrating the emotional intelligence and warmth that distinguish the brand from modular interiors competitors.
Cross-Brand Responsibilities
- Write copy for Meta and Google ad campaigns for both brands—restrained for The Quarry, warmly authoritative for Design First, and brand-led at all times.
- Write video and Reel scripts for both brands: brief, precise copy that does not sound scripted on camera.
- Develop email and outreach communications for both brands, including client follow-ups, event invitations, private viewing announcements, and institutional correspondence.
- Write client-facing proposals and presentation copy for both brands to publication quality.
- Write founder communications when required, including notes, statements, and institutional announcements in the Founder's voice rather than a generic brand tone.
- Co-author and maintain a Brand Voice Document for each brand, with two distinct documents and standards.
- Review outgoing written communication across both brands and flag tone or structure that is drifting from the relevant brand standard, with specific reasoning.
- Research deeply and translate unfamiliar subjects—such as geological history, Italian quarrying traditions, international design movements, and an architect's philosophy—into informed, readable copy.
What Skills We Are Looking For
Qualifications
- Degree in English, Journalism, Mass Communication, Humanities, or an equivalent discipline.
- Portfolio quality takes precedence over formal qualifications; the work is the evidence.
Experience
- 10–12 years of professional writing experience; the portfolio is the definitive evidence of your application.
- Demonstrated range across long-form editorial, short-form social, campaign copy, and institutional writing, at a consistent quality level.
- Documented qualified exposure to luxury, architecture, design, art, or luxury hospitality through produced, published work.
- Experience maintaining a brand voice over an extended period, rather than only writing within someone else's voice.
- Understanding of SEO writing and brand-led writing as separate disciplines with distinct governing principles.
Architecture, Interiors & Material Vocabulary
- Strong working knowledge of materials language, including marble types, stone finishes, surface treatments, and the vocabulary architects use when specifying materials—essential for The Quarry content.
- Deep familiarity with interior design vocabulary, including room proportions, joinery, bespoke furniture terminology, and the language of luxury residential design—essential for Design First content.
- Understanding of the luxury lifestyle register and how luxury homes, bespoke interiors,
and design objects are covered in publications such as Architectural Digest, Wallpaper*, Elle Decor, and Financial Times How To Spend It.
Skills & Qualities
- Ability to maintain two distinct luxury brand voices simultaneously—this is the central skill and the first thing the portfolio will be assessed for.
- Restraint as a cultivated skill: knowing what not to say, when to stop, and when the image speaks for itself.
- Research depth: ability to write authoritatively about unfamiliar material after proper research, without the research showing.
- Editorial instinct: knowing when a piece needs cutting, when the opening is the third paragraph, and when the brief itself is wrong.
- A reading life that informs the writing, including design media, quality journalism, and literary non-fiction.
- Professional maturity: taking precise feedback constructively and using it to sharpen the work.
- Emotional maturity, ownership, and discretion—the operating standard in a founder-led, dual-brand luxury environment.
Tools & Platforms
- Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive)—mandatory for drafts, briefs, and brand voice documentation.
- CMS experience with WordPress or an equivalent platform, for uploading and maintaining website copy for both brands.
- Working familiarity with Meta Business Suite or Later for content scheduling.
- Semrush or Ahrefs at a reading level, to understand the keyword landscape without conflating SEO with brand-led writing.
- Notion, Asana, or an equivalent project management tool, for tracking the editorial calendar and content approval stages.
What We Offer
- Authorship of two distinctive luxury brand voices, simultaneously and with full creative ownership.
- Access to source material across two worlds: quarry journeys, rare geological histories, and leading design practitioners at The Quarry; bespoke luxury interior projects and design philosophy at Design First.
- A working environment where writing quality—not content volume—is the measure of success.
- The professional satisfaction of producing work that is read, remembered, and held to a high standard.
