We’re hiring: Entrepreneur in Residence — New Category | SOLARA

We’re looking for someone to build a new consumer durables category from 0 to 1.
This is a hands-on business ownership role: identify the prospect, develop the products, bring them to market, and build the operations needed to deliver a great customer experience.
You’ll work directly with the founders and own the category’s growth, profitability, and execution.

What you’ll own

• Category strategy: Understand customers, competition, pricing, and market gaps. Define the product range and business plan.
• Product and manufacturing: Work with manufacturers and suppliers on specifications, sourcing, costing, quality, compliance, and launch timelines.
• Go-to-market: Coordinate positioning, content, marketing, channel launches, and sales execution.
• Service operations: Build installation, after-sales service, warranty, spare-parts availability, and escalation processes.
• Category P&L;: Own revenue, margins, inventory, working capital, and customer experience.
• Team building:



Identify the people and partners needed, establish clear responsibilities, and build repeatable processes as the category grows.

Who we’re looking for
• You’ve helped build a product, category, or business from scratch—and can clearly explain what you personally owned.
• You combine commercial judgment with operational discipline. You’re comfortable discussing manufacturing costs, marketing performance, and service issues.
• You can turn an ambiguous goal into a practical plan and drive it through to completion.
• You’re willing to visit suppliers, speak to customers, troubleshoot launch problems, and get into the details.
• Experience in consumer durables, appliances, hardware, or another product business with manufacturing and after-sales complexity would be valuable.

You could be a former founder, an early-stage startup operator, or a category/product leader ready for broader ownership.
