Job Description

• Project Delivery: Lead and support the delivery of a diverse portfolio of transport planning projects, including development Planning, development management, transport assessments, transport statements and feasibility studies, Planning documents in line with UK guidance and client requirements.
• Technical Oversight: Provide subject matter expertise in transport planning policy, scheme appraisal and technical analysis. Define methods and standards for digital/data workflows; review dashboards, GIS layers, scripts, and reports for accuracy and reproducibility.
• Quality Assurance: Oversee and review deliverables from junior staff, ensuring alignment with project objectives, technical standards, and client expectations.
• Design & Appraisal: Contribute to the development, appraisal, and evaluation of transport schemes in line with relevant national and local policy and design guidance.
• Collaboration & Communication: Act as a key point of contact between the UK and GCC teams, helping to manage workflows, monitor progress, and communicate expectations.




• Delegation & Task Management: Effectively manage and check delegated tasks, providing structured feedback and ensuring timely delivery to agreed standards.
• Mentorship & Upskilling: Play a proactive role in the professional development of junior colleagues, offering technical guidance, coaching, and day-to-day support to help them build core transport planning competencies.
• Resourcing & Risk Management: Support the line manager with resource planning, flagging utilisation or capacity issues, and helping to identify and manage project risks.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Develop and maintain solid relationships with clients and internal stakeholders, working collaboratively across disciplines and locations.
• Business Development: Contribute to funding bids, feasibility studies, and strategic reports that promote sustainable and active travel.
