Role Overview:

We are looking for a hands-on Lead Developer who can guide the design, delivery, and operation of full-stack web applications. You will build and review production code across user interfaces, APIs, and data flows, with strong JavaScript skills and substantial experience in both React and Angular. You will make sound technical trade-offs, maintain reliable deployment environments, and help other developers deliver dependable work.

The role combines implementation with technical leadership. You will shape architecture, break work into clear tasks, review quality, resolve complex issues, and work closely with design and product stakeholders. You will also lead how the team uses AI across planning, coding, testing, debugging, and review. Set clear boundaries, build reusable workflows, challenge plausible but flawed output, and show that AI improves delivery without weakening security, performance, or maintainability. You remain accountable for what ships.

What You Will Own

- Lead the technical approach for full-stack features, from requirements and design review through implementation, testing, deployment, and support.

- Build accessible, responsive interfaces in React and Angular, selecting patterns that suit the application and keeping each codebase consistent.

- Design, implement, and integrate backend APIs and data flows that make frontend behavior reliable, secure, and maintainable.

- Manage application servers and deployment environments, including configuration, access, patching, monitoring, backups, and recovery readiness.

- Set practical standards for code structure, testing, reviews, observability, and documentation; explain trade-offs to developers and stakeholders.

- Build a repeatable AI-assisted development workflow for the team, from codebase discovery and option analysis to implementation, tests, review, and handoff, with clear human decision points.

- Use AI to compare designs, scaffold code, generate test ideas, and investigate defects; reject output that invents APIs, misses edge cases, weakens security, or conflicts with the architecture.

- Diagnose production issues across browser, API, database, and server boundaries using logs and monitoring; restore service, identify root causes, and prevent recurrence.

- Mentor developers through reviews, pairing, and clear feedback while planning work realistically and communicating delivery risks early.

How AI Shows Up in This Role

- Use AI to map unfamiliar React, Angular, and backend code paths, then verify its explanation against source code, runtime behavior, and actual dependencies before choosing an approach.





- Generate competing implementation or refactor options and assess them against product requirements, architecture, accessibility, performance, and long-term maintenance.

- Use AI to propose unit, integration, and failure-path tests, then run and strengthen the tests to catch missing edge cases, invented behavior, and brittle assertions.

- Investigate incidents with AI-generated hypotheses, but confirm root causes through logs, traces, reproduction, and code before approving a fix.

- Define team practices for AI-assisted coding and review, including protected data, dependency and license checks, security review, human ownership, and evidence that the workflow reduces rework.

What Success Looks Like in Your First 90 Days

- Understand the main applications, APIs, servers, release flow, monitoring, and operational risks well enough to make credible implementation decisions.

- Deliver a full-stack feature with sound frontend behavior, backend integration, tests, review, and a clear handoff.

- Improve a React or Angular code path in a way that makes it easier for the team to maintain or extend.

- Resolve a meaningful cross-stack or server issue and document the root cause, recovery steps, and preventive change.

- Put one documented AI-assisted engineering workflow into team use, with examples of rejected output, human review gates, and evidence that it improves delivery quality or reduces rework.

- Give developers actionable feedback and help the team make technical decisions with fewer avoidable reversals.

RequirementsWhat You Bring

- 6–10 years of software development experience with substantial ownership of production full-stack web applications.

- Strong JavaScript skills and hands-on experience building and maintaining applications in both React and Angular.

- Ability to design frontend architecture, reusable components, state and data flows, accessible interactions, and responsive experiences.

- Experience building and integrating production backend services, APIs, authentication, and relational or other application data stores.

- Hands-on experience deploying and operating web applications on production servers, including runtime configuration,



secure access, logs, monitoring, backups, and incident response.

- Sound understanding of testing, debugging, code review, performance, security, CI/CD, and production support across the stack.

- Experience translating ambiguous requirements into an implementation plan, making technical trade-offs, and guiding delivery without losing hands-on ownership.

- Demonstrated ability to design and roll out AI-assisted engineering workflows that other developers use, with explicit boundaries and checks for correctness, security, privacy, accessibility, performance, and maintainability.

- Clear communication, constructive mentoring, and collaboration with design, product, and engineering stakeholders.

Nice to Have

- Experience modernising or integrating applications that use both React and Angular.

- Depth in a backend framework and database relevant to the current platform.

- Experience with CI/CD, observability, cloud deployment, or multi-application architecture.

- Experience measuring the effect of AI-assisted engineering on review quality, defects, rework, or delivery flow and adjusting the workflow from those results.

- Experience with containers, infrastructure as code, or deployment automation.

Education

Bachelor's degree in any discipline. Relevant work experience and practical capability will be valued more than academic specialisation.
