Role Description The Senior Network Security Engineer is a full-time remote role responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure network architectures that support NWM’s training platforms, internal systems, and lab environments.

This role includes configuring and hardening network devices, firewalls, VPNs, and security services, as well as monitoring security events, investigating incidents, and coordinating remediation. The engineer will collaborate with instructors and content creators to validate lab topologies, ensure realistic production-grade scenarios, and advise on best practices in network and security design.

Daily work involves developing and maintaining security policies and standards, performing risk assessments and vulnerability reviews,



and optimizing performance and availability while maintaining strong security controls. The role also supports continuous improvement by evaluating new tools and technologies, contributing to documentation, and providing guidance to junior engineers and mentors on emerging threats and mitigation strategies.

Qualifications

- Strong Network Administration and Engineering skills, including routing, switching, TCP/IP, and enterprise network design.
- Advanced Network Security expertise covering firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and secure segmentation across multi-vendor environments.
- Solid Cybersecurity and Information Security knowledge, including security architecture, threat modeling, incident response, and industry-aligned security controls.
- Hands-on experience with Python, Ansible, REST APIs, and Terraform for network and security automation, configuration, provisioning, validation, and operational workflows.
- Practical experience with AWS IaaS technologies, including EC2, S3, VPC, and relevant AWS services and integrations/connectors.
- Experience with F5, Palo Alto Networks, Fortinet, and other enterprise network and security platforms is highly beneficial.
- Relevant certifications such as CCNP/CCIE Security, F5 CA, F5-CTS (LTM/ASM), Palo Alto, AWS, or equivalent, with a strong track record of securing production environments.
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting, communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, and produce accurate documentation and runbooks.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience in a senior network security role.
