Job Summary The General Senior Manager directs all operations within the Synthetic Division. They are responsible for driving the technical strategy for route scouting and process optimization, while managing the division’s financial budgets, client relationships, and regulatory workflows. The core objective is ensuring safe, scalable, cost-effective, and fully compliant chemical synthesis programs moving from the benchtop to commercial manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & R&D; Strategy

- Lead the roadmap for overall process chemistry, route optimization, and synthetic design across target portfolios (e.g., small molecules, APIs, intermediates, or specialty polymers).
- - Drive technical innovation via synthetic path evaluation, non-infringing process design, and robust intellectual property (IP) protection strategies.
- - Oversee technology transfer and scale-up operations from initial lab validation protocols into pilot plants and full commercial cGMP production lines.
- - Provide final technical resolution for high-impact process bottlenecks, stability anomalies, or structural impurities.

Business & Operations Management

- Own the division budget, performing cost-benefit analyses, controlling operational expenditure (OpEx), and managing raw material resource allocation.
- - Optimize cross-functional workflows by collaborating with Quality Control (QC), Quality Assurance (QA), Engineering, Supply Chain, and Commercial teams.
- - Manage external alliances, acting as the primary technical point-of-contact for high-value clients, CRO/CDMO accounts, and third-party vendors.
- - Define divisional KPIs and report key milestones, project performance, and investment strategies directly to executive leadership.





Team Leadership & Safety Culture

- Mentor and develop a technical workforce consisting of laboratory managers, principal scientists, process chemists, and engineers.
- - Enforce rigid EH&S; compliance (Setting, Health, and Safety), establishing strict containment strategies for hazardous reactions and toxic reagents.
- - Oversee staffing targets, driving technical recruitment, structural onboarding, and resource allocation across overlapping programs.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

- On-Time Delivery Rate: Success in moving discovery chemical routes to pilot scale within project timelines.
- - Process Yield & Cost-Efficiency: Percentage reduction in step count or cost-of-goods-sold (COGS) through green or optimized chemistry.
- - Regulatory & Quality Audits: Zero major non-conformances during cGMP, FDA, or local environmental safety inspections.
- - Budget Alignment: Maintaining division operations within target profit and loss boundaries.

Job Requirements & Qualifications
