2. Position Summary

Leads mechanical suspension design for commercial vehicles across loading applications, owning spring, shock absorber and anti-roll bar calculations and design finalisation, and guiding engineering reviews through to PLM release.

One opening; four further Suspension openings are at Engineer level.

3. Must Have Skills

- Commercial vehicle mechanical suspension design (leaf spring, shock absorber, anti-roll bar)
- Suspension calculations damping force, roll stiffness, ride and handling
- CATIA – solid, surface, sheet metal, casting and assembly modules
- Vehicle integration, DMU and packaging
- GD&T;, tolerance stack-up and DFMEA

4. Valuable To Have Skills

- FEA inputs and design iteration
- DVP and IATF 16949
- 8D problem solving and field-failure root cause analysis
- Competitor benchmarking

5. Roles and Responsibilities

- Design vehicle suspensions for the required loading applications.
- Own concept design, evaluation and finalisation of the suspension system.
- Carry out suspension packaging and layout studies, spring selection and shock absorber layouts.
- Calculate shock absorber damping force and finalise the shock absorber.
- Calculate roll stiffness,



select the anti-roll bar and finalise its design.
- Provide inputs for FEA structural analysis and iterate the design to clear it.
- Meet the Quality, Cost and Delivery targets of each project.
- Document project deliverables: design proposals, DFMEA, design calculations and DVP.
- Work with cross-functional teams to meet DFM, DFA and DFS requirements.
- Generate proposals to overcome design challenges and evaluate them on cost and complexity.
- Own CAD quality at part and assembly level.
- Release Bill of Material and specifications in PLM.
- Prepare reports and presentations for engineering reviews.
- Solve technical issues through the 8D approach and QC tools, including root cause analysis of field failures.
- Identify critical-to-quality parameters and apply control parameters on drawings.
- Benchmark competitor designs and submit reports.
- Review calculations and design work of engineers in the suspension team and lead engineering reviews.
- Drive field-failure root cause analysis and countermeasures across the suspension portfolio.
