Position Summary

Leads frame and chassis design for commercial vehicles, from architecture definition and frame calculations through design finalisation, including space-frame and monocoque concepts for low-floor applications.

One opening; five further Frames & Chassis openings are at Engineer level.

3. Must Have Skills

- Commercial vehicle frame architecture and design (side member, cross member, brackets)
- Frame calculations bending moment, torsional stiffness, factor of safety
- Vehicle integration, DMU, packaging and interference analysis
- CATIA 3D CAD and 2D detailing
- GD&T;, tolerance stack-up, DFMEA and DRBFM

4. Good To Have Skills

- Space-frame / monocoque concepts for low-floor bus applications
- RFQ concept and technical presentations
- VA/VE cost reduction
- Frame regulatory requirements and design guidelines
- 2D to 3D conversion, re-mastering and reverse engineering
- New-variant feasibility studies and commonisation strategy

5. Roles and Responsibilities

- Handle design and development of frame chassis for commercial vehicles.
- Define frame structure architecture from layout, packaging, benchmarking, field and marketing inputs.




- Validate structural rigidity of the frame through bending moment and torsional stiffness calculations, and run calculations for design finalisation.
- Design space-frame and monocoque concepts for low-floor applications.
- Develop design proposals for side members, cross members and mounting brackets, and package them with the vehicle.
- Select vehicle aggregates and integrate them with the frame.
- Create 3D CAD and 2D detailing considering tooling and manufacturing feasibility; release drawings in PLM.
- Provide countermeasures for issues from design reviews, CAE feedback and proto build.
- Prepare DMU reports, DFMEA, DRBFM, Tool Go Ahead, engineering risk reports and supplier sign-off.
- Work with manufacturing, strategic sourcing and SQA across frame development stages.
- Prepare component validation plans and track issues during vehicle endurance testing.
- Prepare concept-stage and technical presentations for RFQs.
- Run design reviews, interface sign-offs and final quality checks; contribute to VA/VE cost savings.
- Benchmark competitors, run current-variant feasibility studies and work out commonisation across product versions.
