ROLE SUMMARY

We are looking for a QA Engineer with 3 years of overall experience, of which at least 2 years are in software testing, to join our client engagement team. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in manual testing and has begun building automation skills. You will help ensure the quality, stability and usability of web applications by designing and executing test cases, logging clear defects, and gradually contributing to the automation suite.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Analyse business requirements, user stories and functional specifications to prepare test scenarios and test cases.
- Execute manual test cases across functional, regression, smoke, sanity, integration and system testing cycles.
- Identify, log, track and retest defects using a defect management tool, with clear steps to reproduce and supporting evidence.
- Perform basic API testing and database validation to verify end-to-end behaviour.
- Develop, maintain and execute automated test scripts for stable, repeatable scenarios under guidance from senior team members.
- Participate in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, defect triage and retrospectives in an Agile environment.
- Prepare and share test execution reports, defect summaries and status updates with the project team and stakeholders.
- Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and verify fixes before release.
- Collaborate with developers, business analysts and product owners to clarify requirements and resolve issues quickly.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

Must-Have Skills

- Manual Testing: Strong hands-on experience in manual testing, with a clear understanding of the Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC) and Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- Test Design: Ability to write detailed test scenarios,



test cases and test data, and to maintain a requirements traceability matrix.
- Defect Management: Experience with a defect or project tracking tool such as JIRA, Azure DevOps or Bugzilla.
- Database Basics: Working knowledge of SQL for data validation (basic queries, joins, filters).
- Methodologies: Understanding of Agile and Scrum practices and of test levels and types.

Automation Exposure (Working Knowledge Expected)

- Hands-on experience with at least one automation tool or framework, such as Selenium WebDriver, Cypress or Playwright.
- Basic programming or scripting ability in Java, Python or JavaScript to write and maintain simple automation scripts.
- Familiarity with a test framework such as TestNG, JUnit, PyTest or Cucumber.

Valuable-to-Have Skills

- API testing using Postman or a similar tool, including understanding of REST and JSON.
- Exposure to CI/CD tools (for example Jenkins) and version control with Git.
- Basic knowledge of performance testing tools such as JMeter.
- Cross-browser and cross-device testing experience.
- ISTQB Foundation Level certification.

SOFT SKILLS

- Sharp attention to detail and a methodical, analytical approach to problem solving.
- Clear written and verbal communication, especially when documenting defects and reporting status.
- Ability to work independently on assigned modules and collaboratively within a team.
- Willingness to learn new tools and to grow steadily into automation.

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE
- B.E / B.Tech, MCA, or equivalent degree in Computer Science, IT or a related field.
- Total experience of 3 years, with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience in software testing.
- Prior experience testing web-based applications is preferred.
