: Platform Engineer Relius / Oracle

About The Role

We are looking for an experienced Platform Engineer Relius / Oracle to take end-to-end ownership of the FIS Relius Administration platform and its underlying Oracle database environment hosted on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).

This role combines Oracle database administration, PL/SQL development, release management, application support, and production troubleshooting. The ideal candidate will act as a bridge between development and production, ensuring that database changes, releases, and corrective scripts are reviewed, tested, and deployed safely.

The candidate should have strong hands-on Oracle DBA experience, the ability to debug complex legacy systems, and experience supporting production applications in regulated financial environments.

Key Responsibilities 1.

Relius Platform

Administration

- Manage and maintain Relius environments across Development, UAT, and Production.
- Handle Relius upgrades, service packs, workplace refreshes, configuration changes, and capacity management.
- Monitor database storage, tablespaces, audit logs, and platform health.
- Manage FIS support tickets and coordinate with external vendors and internal infrastructure teams.
- Perform application and web-tier health checks, service restarts, and deployment-related validations.

Oracle Database

Administration

- Administer and maintain Oracle 12c/19c databases in production environments.
- Perform Oracle database patching, upgrades, backup, recovery, and environment refresh activities.
- Manage database performance tuning, query optimization, long-running SQL, and stored procedure performance.
- Monitor database capacity, storage utilization, availability, and operational health.
- Manage database access, user provisioning, privileges, access reviews, and revocation.
- Support Oracle database operations on OCI; AWS or Azure database operations experience is also acceptable.

PL/SQL Development and Code Review
- Develop, review, troubleshoot, and maintain PL/SQL scripts, stored procedures, functions, packages, and triggers.
- Review SQL/PL/SQL scripts developed by application teams before deployment to UAT and Production.
- Develop safe corrective scripts for production data issues and application integrations.
- Analyze legacy database schemas and troubleshoot data inconsistencies.
- Ensure database changes follow established coding standards, testing procedures, audit requirements, and change-control policies.

4. Release and Deployment Management
- Execute scheduled releases, application updates, database deployments, and emergency hotfixes.
- Validate deployment readiness, database scripts, dependencies, and rollback procedures.
- Coordinate with development, QA, infrastructure, and database service providers.
- Maintain deployment records, change documentation, and release updates in Jira.
- Improve deployment processes to ensure repeatability, reliability, and auditability.

Production

Support and Troubleshooting

- Act as the primary escalation point for Relius/Oracle production incidents.
- Investigate transaction-processing failures, report and statement generation issues, data anomalies, and inbound/outbound file-feed failures.
- Perform root-cause analysis across application and database layers.
- Diagnose complex production issues using SQL queries, logs, database monitoring, and application-level troubleshooting.
- Implement corrective actions while protecting data integrity and minimizing production risk.
- Provide timely incident updates and coordinate resolution with vendors and technical teams.

6. Data Integration and Monitoring
- Support Oracle data extraction,



replication, and integration with downstream systems and data lakes.
- Work with Change Data Capture (CDC) and replication technologies where applicable.
- Monitor database and application health, server/event logs, alerts, and operational metrics.
- Support integrations with custodians, financial advisors, and other external systems.
- Use AI-assisted development and troubleshooting tools as part of daily engineering activities.

Mandatory Skills And Experience

- Strong, hands-on Oracle DBA experience with Oracle 12c/19c in production environments.
- Expertise in Oracle database patching, backup and recovery, database refreshes, performance tuning, and capacity management.
- Strong PL/SQL development and debugging skills, including stored procedures, packages, functions, and corrective scripts.
- Experience troubleshooting legacy applications and complex database schemas.
- Experience handling production incidents, root-cause analysis, release deployments, and change management.
- Experience working with cloud-hosted databases; OCI is strongly preferred, with AWS or Azure database operations also considered.
- Ability to review database scripts and execute controlled changes against critical production data.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including incident reporting, vendor coordination, and cross-team collaboration.
- Practical, regular use of AI-assisted development tools.

Good to Have
- Hands-on experience with FIS Relius Administration, including its database schema, service packs, and environment management.
- Experience in retirement administration, recordkeeping, banking, financial services, or other regulated environments.
- Knowledge of retirement plan and participant data, contributions, distributions, loans, and financial transactions.
- Familiarity with Microsoft SQL Server.
- Experience with CDC, database replication, and data lake integration using Databricks or similar platforms.
- Experience with database migration, modernization, and re-platforming initiatives.
