Help build India’s first commercial scanning electron microscope.
Today, India relies on imported electron microscopes. Bharat Atomic is changing that by building semiconductor equipment from the ground up, starting with high-resolution SEMs and electron-beam lithography. You’ll work on the real instrument with a senior mentor.
Winter internship | Bhopal | In person | 4 months | Competitive stipend + accommodation provided
What you’ll do
- Design parts, fixtures and assemblies for an instrument where microns of misalignment matter.
- Take designs from CAD model to drawing to finished part: fits, tolerances and material choices, vacuum compatibility.
- Assemble prototypes and test alignment, stiffness and repeatability on the bench.
By the end, you’ll have designed hardware that’s built into a working electron microscope. That’s precision engineering most students only read about.
Your mentor
Dr. Sudipta Das,
Lead Scientist. You’ll work alongside our engineers and scientists every day.
You might be a fit if you
- Are a third-year or final-year undergraduate in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or a related degree.
- Are fluent in a 3D CAD tool, can make proper engineering drawings, and have built something physical.
- Have solid fundamentals in mechanics, materials and manufacturing. Machining, metrology or FEA experience is a plus.
We care more about what you’ve built than your CGPA.
How to apply
Apply on LinkedIn with your CV. In it, highlight one mechanical design or build you’re proud of: what it does, what you personally did, and one thing that went wrong along the way. Make sure your degree and year are on it.
