Desktop Engineer – IT Support

Job Summary

Mikan Engineering is looking for a Desktop Engineer / IT Support Engineer to support and maintain the day-to-day IT infrastructure of our engineering office.

The successful candidate will be responsible for desktop and laptop support, basic network troubleshooting, cloud/server monitoring, engineering software installation and support, backups, and CCTV monitoring.

Key Responsibilities

- Maintain and troubleshoot desktops, laptops, printers, UPS systems, switches, routers, and Wi-Fi devices.
- Perform cloud/server maintenance, including:
- Server and storage monitoring
- Backup checks
- User access control
- Storage capacity checks
- Basic uptime and connectivity support
- Install, configure, update, and troubleshoot:
- Engineering software
- Microsoft Office and productivity tools
- Antivirus software
- Drivers and Windows updates
- Other company-approved applications
- Provide basic network support, including IP configuration, LAN/Wi-Fi troubleshooting, and device connectivity.
- Provide CCTV system support, including:
- Monitoring support
- NVR/DVR recording checks
- Storage checks
- Basic camera/network troubleshooting
- Coordination with CCTV vendors when required
- Maintain IT documentation,



including:
- IT asset register
- Software and licence register
- Backup schedules
- User/access records
- IT issue and maintenance logs
- Provide daily IT support to employees for:
- Email and Microsoft Teams setup
- Login and password-related issues
- Computer performance issues
- Printer/network connectivity
- General system configuration and troubleshooting

Requirements
- Diploma / Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Electronics, or equivalent.
- Good knowledge of Windows operating systems and computer hardware.
- Basic knowledge of LAN, Wi-Fi, IP addressing, switches, and routers.
- Understanding of cloud/server maintenance and backup practices.
- Experience with software installation and troubleshooting.
- Basic understanding of CCTV systems, including NVR/DVR, cameras, recording, and storage monitoring.
- Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to maintain proper IT documentation.
- Willingness to support an engineering office setting.
