Position: General Manager – Operations

Base Location: Kanpur Head Office, Uttar Pradesh

Plant Location: Jajpur, Odisha

VCI Chemical Industries is seeking an experienced General Manager – Operations to lead and oversee operational activities for its coal tar distillation plant at Jajpur, Odisha. The role will be based at the Kanpur Head Office and will involve close coordination with plant leadership to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations.

Key Responsibilities:

- Lead overall plant operations, production planning, and performance monitoring.
- Drive process optimization, productivity improvement, yield enhancement, and cost control.




- Monitor key operating parameters, product quality, equipment reliability, and plant performance.
- Coordinate with process, production, maintenance, utilities, quality, and EHS teams.
- Establish operational SOPs, KPIs, reporting systems, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Lead troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, environmental standards, and plant safety procedures.
- Develop operational budgets, manpower plans, and performance improvement strategies.
- Guide plant teams, strengthen operational discipline, and report performance to senior management.

Educational Qualification: B.E./B.Tech in Chemical Engineering; a relevant postgraduate qualification is an added advantage.

Experience: 15–20 years of experience in chemical processing, coal tar distillation, refinery, petrochemical, or other continuous process industries, including substantial leadership experience in plant operations.

Key Skills:

- Strong expertise in plant operations and process optimization.
- Knowledge of distillation processes, process control, and production planning.
- Experience in manpower management, budgeting, cost control, and KPI monitoring.
- Solid troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and decision-making capabilities.
- Knowledge of industrial safety, environmental compliance, and quality systems.
- Proven leadership, team development, and cross-functional coordination skills.

Location Requirement: Base location at Kanpur Head Office, with regular coordination and travel to the Jajpur, Odisha plant as required. Candidates must be comfortable supporting plant operations at the site.
