About the Opportunity

We are looking for a highly experienced Senior SAP Transportation Management (TM) Functional Consultant / TM SME to support a major SAP S/4HANA upgrade project for a global organization in the manufacturing and supply chain domain.

The project involves upgrading an existing, customized, on-premise SAP S/4HANA environment from 2023 to 2025. This is a hands-on, client-facing opportunity for a consultant who can independently own TM functional impact analysis, troubleshooting, regression testing, integration validation, and post-upgrade stabilization.

Key Responsibilities

- Own SAP TM functional activities for the S/4HANA 2023 to 2025 upgrade.
- Conduct upgrade impact assessments across configuration, custom enhancements, master data, and integrations.
- Support end-to-end transportation processes, including Freight Unit creation, Freight Unit Building Rules (FUBR), Freight Orders, planning, execution, tendering, charge calculation, and freight settlement.
- Work extensively with Transportation Cockpit, optimizer/VSR planning, planning profiles, selection profiles, transportation lanes, resources, and incompatibility rules.
- Assess the functional impact of existing BAdIs, custom enhancements, forms, and interfaces in collaboration with ABAP developers.
- Troubleshoot SAP and non-SAP integration issues involving MES/SAP MII, carrier tendering platforms, and third-party track-and-trace solutions.
- Develop and execute regression, integration, and end-to-end test scenarios; support SIT, UAT, cutover, and post-upgrade stabilization.
- Analyze production incidents, identify root causes, coordinate fixes,



and validate resolutions.
- Evaluate opportunities to leverage S/4HANA 2025 standard functionality to simplify existing custom solutions.
- Act as the primary SAP TM point of contact, communicating risks, dependencies, defects, and upgrade readiness to stakeholders.

Required Skills & Experience

- Strong hands-on experience with SAP S/4HANA Embedded Transportation Management.
- Experience with SAP S/4HANA upgrades, migrations, or major release upgrades.
- Deep functional knowledge of Freight Units, FUBR, Freight Orders, transportation planning, and execution.
- Strong experience with VSR/optimizer-based planning and Transportation Cockpit.
- Expertise in carrier selection, tendering, charge calculation, and freight settlement.
- Experience with custom TM functionality, BAdIs, enhancements, and ABAP developer coordination.
- Robust SAP/non-SAP integration troubleshooting and regression testing skills.
- Ability to independently diagnose complex configuration, master data, custom code, and interface issues.
- Excellent client-facing communication and stakeholder-management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

- Direct experience with S/4HANA 2023/2025 upgrades.
- Experience with MES, SAP MII, carrier tendering, or transportation track-and-trace integrations.
- Exposure to highly customized enterprise SAP TM environments.
- Experience in manufacturing, food and agriculture, CPG, or transportation-intensive industries.

Ideal Candidate A hands-on SAP TM SME or Functional Lead who can independently own the TM workstream in an established production environment.
