1. Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled and safety-conscious Fabrication Fitter to carry out fabrication, fitting, assembly and installation activities related to ship structures, steel plates, sections and mechanical components. The candidate will work with welders, fabricators, supervisors and project engineers to ensure accurate fitting and timely completion of shipyard projects.

1. Roles and Responsibilities

- Perform fitting, fabrication and assembly of steel structures, plates, sections and components.

- Read and interpret fabrication drawings, structural drawings and measurements.

- Mark, measure, cut and prepare materials as per drawings and specifications.

- Carry out fit-up of plates, pipes, stiffeners, brackets, frames and structural components.

- Assist welders in preparing joints and ensuring proper alignment before welding.

- Use hand tools, measuring instruments, grinders and other fabrication tools safely.

- Check dimensions, levels, alignment, gaps and clearances before welding and assembly.

- Support ship hull repair, structural modification, renewal and new fabrication work.

- Coordinate with welding teams and supervisors to complete assigned tasks.

- Identify material defects, dimensional errors and fitting discrepancies and report them to the supervisor.

- Follow approved drawings,



work instructions, quality standards and project schedules.

- Maintain tools, equipment and housekeeping at the workplace.

- Follow shipyard safety procedures, permit-to-work requirements and PPE standards.

1. Required Skills

- Knowledge of steel fabrication, fitting and assembly.

- Ability to read basic engineering and fabrication drawings.

- Familiarity with measuring tools such as measuring tapes, squares, spirit levels and vernier calipers.

- Knowledge of grinding, marking, cutting and fit-up procedures.

- Basic understanding of welding joint preparation and tolerances.

- Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces when authorized and properly trained.

- Good teamwork, discipline and safety awareness.

1. Qualification and Experience

- ITI in Fitter, Welder or a relevant trade is preferred.

- Candidates with relevant fabrication experience and practical skills may also be considered.

- Experience: 0–4 years.

- Freshers with relevant technical training can apply.

- Shipbuilding, ship repair, structural fabrication or heavy engineering experience is an advantage.

Pay: ₹18,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
