Editorial Project Manager

We are looking for someone who has experience managing digital projects, a good understanding of publishing workflows, and an editorial perspective.

Responsibilities:

● To commission, create a brief and supply work to freelancers (copy-editors, proofreaders, etc.) and perform QAs on their work, ensuring high editorial and consistency standards have been met.

● To commission, brief and supply work to typesetters and design studios and perform QAs on proofs, paying particular attention to layouts and compliance with the design specifications.

● To commission, brief and supply work to art suppliers and perform QAs on deliverables, paying particular attention to layouts and compliance with the design specifications.

● To commission, brief and supply work to media suppliers and perform QAs on deliverables, paying particular attention to compliance with technical specifications.

● To collate proofs, conduct photo research, write artwork briefs, and transparent text permissions where necessary.

● To ensure that all products are delivered on time, meet quality standards, fall within budget and are produced to the required specification.

● When required,



to make content and pedagogical decisions and brief typesetters and designers on changes to content.

● To contribute to and maintain project workflow development and documentation, ensuring processes are tailored to customer needs.

● To maintain project budget and cost trackers and deliver projects to the agreed margin.

● To maintain project schedules, flagging risks and delays, and providing creative solutions and mitigations to issues before they arise.

● Support Project Managers with the day-to-day coordination of publishing projects, ensuring tasks are completed on time, to brief, and within budget.

Skills, qualifications and experience:

● Degree-level qualification, publishing qualifications would be an advantage.

● Impeccable editorial, organisational and communication skills.

● Good working knowledge of editorial process, schedule maintenance and budget management.
