Manager - LCA Trademark. The Manager is responsible for managing Cognizants global trademark portfolio and brand protection programs. The role provides strategic and operational support across trademark clearance filing prosecution enforcement brand governance contractual reviews and portfolio management.
Responsibilities
- Trademark portfolio management: Manage the lifecycle of Cognizant global trademarks service marks logos and brand assets including searching clearance filing prosecution maintenance renewals rationalization and cost optimization.
- Naming and brand review: Lead legal review of proposed product service platform solution and initiative names and marketing campaigns provide practical advice on availability registrability enforceability and risk.
- Filing strategy: Develop protection strategies aligned with business expansion product launches acquisitions and branding initiatives.
- Enforcement and brand protection: Manage domestic and international infringement matters cease-and-desist actions oppositions cancellations domain name disputes and online enforcement.
- Enforcement prioritization: Coordinate investigations and strategy with outside counsel and brand protection vendors based on business impact legal risk and cost.
- IP agreements: Review negotiate and advise on trademark provisions in IP license co-branding marketing promotion settlement and coexistence agreements.
- Commercial contracts:
Support review of trademark and branding terms in MSAs SOWs vendor strategic partnership and alliance agreements including ownership licensing usage restrictions publicity co-branding and attribution.
- Logo and brand asset governance: Review logo-use requests and advise on customer partner alliance sponsorship and co-marketing assets maintain trademark usage standards and brand guidelines.
- Sponsorship and marketing support: Review sponsorship event conference and promotional agreements including branding publicity display naming exclusivity and IP ownership rights.
- Outside counsel and vendors: Manage law firms search vendors and watch-service providers establish service expectations review invoices monitor performance and drive fee and process efficiencies.
- Team leadership: Lead coach and develop 2-3 trademark and IP professionals allocate work set goals support career development and strengthen knowledge sharing.
- Governance and risk: Develop trademark policies procedures and operational standards maintain accurate records and reporting identify emerging risks and support audits compliance and legal governance reviews.
- Stakeholder partnership: Collaborate with marketing/branding business teams commercial legal and external counsel to deliver practical timely and business-oriented trademark advice.
Certifications Required Law degree from an accredited institution.
