Commvault is hiring a Senior Engineer DevOps to join its Hyperscale Engineering team.

The role focuses on software development, infrastructure automation, deployment, system troubleshooting and distributed systems. The engineer will work across compute, storage, networking, virtualization, containers, cloud and bare metal environments.

The position involves developing automation frameworks, improving provisioning and deployment processes, troubleshooting complex infrastructure and customer issues, and improving the reliability, scalability and quality of the Hyperscale platform.

The engineer will collaborate with development, QA, support, field engineering and other cross functional teams.

Requirements

- Design, develop, and maintain automation using Python, Shell scripting, and Ansible.
- Develop reusable Ansible roles, modules, and playbooks.
- Automate server provisioning, configuration, deployment, upgrades, and patching.
- Automate HAProxy, Corosync, clustering, high-availability, and monitoring components.
- Develop automation for S3 deployment, configuration, and validation.
- Work with bare-metal provisioning frameworks such as RackN and Cobbler.
- Develop tools for diagnostics, deployment, testing, and engineering productivity.
- Work with existing C++ and XML codebases for targeted enhancements and fixes.




- Use AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot.
- Design and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions.
- Automate virtual machines and infrastructure resources using VMware and Hyper-V.
- Deploy, configure, and troubleshoot Docker, Kubernetes, and OpenShift workloads.
- Develop infrastructure automation using Boto3, Paramiko, Fabric, and PyYAML.
- Configure and troubleshoot compute, storage, and networking resources.
- Automate operating system and ISO installation using PXE and network boot technologies.
- Use Git-based workflows for source control, collaboration, code reviews, and release management.
- Analyze logs, crash information, network behavior, storage behavior, and performance metrics.
- Perform root-cause analysis for production and customer issues.
- Bachelor's degree required.
- 4+ years of professional experience.
- Strong Python and Shell scripting experience.
- Hands-on experience with Ansible and configuration management.
- Strong Linux system administration knowledge.
- Understanding of networking, storage, and distributed systems.
- Experience with VMware and/or Hyper-V.
- Working knowledge of AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and/or OpenShift.
- Experience with Boto3, Paramiko, Fabric, or PyYAML.




- Familiarity with PXE, RackN, or Cobbler.
- Working knowledge of Git and modern software development workflows.
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
- Experience troubleshooting production or customer environments.
- Experience performing detailed root-cause analysis.
- Ability to understand existing C++ and XML code.
- Enterprise storage, backup, recovery, or data-management experience is preferred.
- Security and SaaS experience is strongly preferred.
