Job Title: Senior Accountant – Pharmaceutical Distribution

We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to manage day-to-day accounting and financial operations for our pharmaceutical distribution business in Chennai.

Our business handles pharmaceutical products across multiple categories, with an annual turnover of approximately ₹50 crore. The ideal candidate should have solid accounting knowledge, practical experience in GST and statutory compliance, excellent reconciliation skills, and proficiency in MS Excel.

Experience in pharmaceutical distribution, FMCG distribution, or wholesale trading will be an added advantage.

Key Responsibilities

1. Day-to-Day Accounting

- Handle daily accounting transactions and maintain accurate books of accounts.
- Verify purchase and sales entries, debit notes, credit notes, receipts and payment vouchers.
- Ensure proper documentation and timely accounting entries using Raymedi software.

1. Customer & Supplier Reconciliation

- Perform regular ledger reconciliation of customers and suppliers.
- Identify and resolve discrepancies in outstanding balances.
- Follow up with customers for overdue payments and maintain receivables ageing reports.
- Coordinate with suppliers regarding outstanding balances and account confirmations.

1. Bank Reconciliation

- Prepare daily bank reconciliation statements for both companies.
- Verify bank transactions, receipts, payments and bank charges.
- Investigate and resolve unreconciled entries promptly.

1. GST & Statutory Compliance

- Assist in GST return preparation and reconciliation of input tax credit (ITC).
- Handle TDS calculations, preparation and related compliance.
- Maintain records and documentation required for statutory audits and tax filings.




- Coordinate with external auditors and consultants whenever required.

1. Reporting & Excel

- Prepare outstanding reports, ageing analysis and other accounting MIS reports.
- Maintain Excel-based reports for monitoring collections, payments and account discrepancies.
- Use advanced Excel functions such as VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, SUMIFS and reconciliation formulas.

1. Internal Coordination

- Coordinate with billing, purchase, sales and operations teams to resolve accounting discrepancies.
- Ensure timely closure of daily accounting activities.
- Maintain accuracy, confidentiality and discipline in all financial records.

Required Qualifications & Skills
- B.Com, M.Com or equivalent qualification in Commerce/Accounting.
- 4–8 years of relevant accounting experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, GST, TDS and bank reconciliation.
- Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Experience using Raymedi accounting/distribution software is preferred.
- Tally experience is not a requirement for this position.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
- Ability to independently manage accounting activities and meet deadlines.

Preferred Candidate Profile
- Candidates with experience in pharmaceutical distribution, stockist operations, C&F; or wholesale trading will be preferred.
- Should be capable of independently handling day-to-day accounts for a growing business.
- Must be organised, responsible and proactive in following up on pending issues.
- Should have good communication and coordination skills.
