ABOUT THE ROLE

DPX Live 360 — The Discovery Park invites applications from experienced MTB coaches and professional trainers with strong knowledge of advanced mountain biking techniques, rider development and expedition leadership.

The coach will deliver structured training from basic bicycle control through advanced technical trail riding, endurance development and long-distance expedition preparation.

National and international competition, coaching, training-camp or expedition exposure is strongly preferred.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Design and deliver a structured one-year MTB programme covering beginner, intermediate and advanced levels.

- Coach children, students, youth and adults through progressive, individually assessed training.

- Teach foundational bicycle control and advanced off-road riding techniques.

- Conduct training on dirt, gravel, sand, singletrack, hills and technical terrain.

- Develop riders’ fitness, endurance, pacing, confidence and decision-making.

- Plan and lead long-distance and multi-day MTB expeditions, including Eastern Ghats routes.

- Conduct route reconnaissance and assess terrain, weather, access and support requirements.

- Prepare eligible riders for cross-country races, endurance challenges and other MTB competitions.

- Maintain individual training plans, skills assessments and progress reports.

- Coordinate with mechanics, support drivers and camp teams.

- Inspect bicycles, protective equipment and training trails before sessions.

- Teach bicycle maintenance, trail repairs and expedition equipment preparation.

- Help develop MTB trails, technical skills sections and graded training features.

- Maintain ride briefings, emergency communication procedures and incident records.

ADVANCED TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIRED





Applicants must demonstrate strong practical riding skills and the ability to teach advanced techniques through clear, progressive coaching.

BIKE CONTROL & HANDLING

- Energetic body positioning, balance and weight transfer.

- Bike–body separation and controlled movement.

- Front-wheel lifts, rear-wheel lifts, manuals and bunny hops.

- Track stands and low-speed technical manoeuvres.

- Precise braking, traction management and controlled emergency stops.

CORNERING & TERRAIN TECHNIQUES

- Flat, bermed, off-camber and switchback cornering.

- Line selection, vision and speed management.

- Riding loose gravel, sand, mud, roots and rocky terrain.

- Technical climbing, efficient gearing and maintaining traction.

- Steep and technical descending with controlled braking.

- Rock gardens, ruts, narrow trails and obstacle negotiation.

- Pumping rollers and maintaining momentum through trail features.

JUMPS, DROPS & ADVANCED TRAIL FEATURES

- Progressive jump preparation and take-off techniques.

- Bike control in the air and controlled landings.

- Tabletop jumps, suitable gap jumps and trail drops.

- Assessing approach speed, landing areas and rider readiness.

- Teaching advanced features within the coach’s proven competence and suitable facilities.

ENDURANCE, RACING & EXPEDITION SKILLS

- Cross-country riding and race preparation.

- Pacing, climbing strategy and energy management.

- Structured endurance and interval training.

- Hydration, fuelling and recovery principles.

- GPS navigation, route planning and group management.

- Multi-day riding preparation and equipment selection.

- Basic trailside repairs and mechanical problem-solving.

- Coordination of support vehicles, regrouping points and emergency access.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS





- 5–10 years of relevant MTB coaching, professional riding or expedition experience, including demonstrated coaching experience.

- Proven ability to train riders from foundational skills through advanced technical levels.

- Experience leading supported long-distance and multi-day cycling expeditions.

- Strong knowledge of MTB equipment, bicycle setup and maintenance.

- Ability to assess participants and adapt instruction to age, fitness and riding ability.

- Clear communication skills and patience when working with students and parents.

- Good communication in English or Telugu; additional languages are an advantage.

- Physical fitness suitable for regular practical demonstrations and expedition leadership.

- Willingness to work weekends and travel for programmes and events.

- Current first-aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain these before independently leading programmes.

STRONGLY PREFERRED

- National or international MTB competition participation.

- Experience coaching state, national or international-level riders.

- International MTB training, coaching clinics or expedition exposure.

- Recognised cycling or MTB coaching certifications.

- Basic or advanced MTB qualifications from NIMAS, NIM or another recognised institution.

- Wilderness first-aid or outdoor leadership qualifications.

- Experience working with school students and youth development programmes.

- Experience designing technical trails and conducting skills assessments.
