Research Assistant – Centre for Digital Transformation

We invite applications for research assistant positions, preferably with a postgraduate

(master’s) degree in Information Systems, Management, Data Science, Computer

Science & Engineering, or related fields, in the Centre for Digital Transformation at

IIM Ahmedabad (IIMA). Applicants with a PhD will be considered for the research

associate position.

Role Description: The position involves working on various research projects focused

on key issues in digital transformation. The candidate will work on predefined

projects under the supervision of faculty supervisor (s). Responsibilities of the

research assistant may include one or more of the following: preparing surveys and

launching, data extraction, running large panel data models, and creating impactful

data visualizations, amongst other such activities involved in academic research

publications. Applicants should be well-versed in the key ideas underlying digital

technologies. The position requires research acumen as an essential qualification, and

people who are keen to pursue a PhD later are highly encouraged to apply.

Qualifications:

- Candidates with a degree in management/information

systems/engineering/computer science/mathematics, or social and economic-

related disciplines are preferred.

- Candidates with expertise and a focus on running simulations in the

organizational domain will be preferred.

- Candidates should be proficient in Python and R. They should be comfortable





creating large datasets and analysing and visualising them. Candidates with
experience in natural language processing and text analytics will be preferred.

- Candidates should be well-versed in secondary data analysis. Candidates

proficient in running econometrics/statistics models are preferred. Prior

experience working with panel datasets and knowledge of Stata are desirable.

- Candidates who understand the scientific process, including being comfortable

doing a literature review by reading and summarizing research papers, will be

given preference.

Project Tenure: The appointment is initially for 6 months, with the potential for

extension based on performance.

Location: The selected candidate(s) will work from the IIMA campus. IIMA provides

all research assistants with access to the library and computer centre. If selected, the

candidate is expected to manage their accommodation outside the IIMA campus,

which is centrally located in Ahmedabad.

Reporting: The selected Research Assistant (s) will report to Prof. Pankaj Setia and
Prof. Swanand Deodhar, co-chairpersons of the Centre for Digital Transformation,
IIMA.

Compensation: Compensation will be commensurate with the qualifications and

experience of the candidate
