Job Summary

We are looking for a qualified and experienced Night Intensivist to manage critically ill patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) during night shifts. The candidate will be responsible for providing round-the-clock critical care management, handling medical emergencies, monitoring patient conditions, coordinating with consultants and nursing staff, and ensuring timely clinical intervention to maintain patient safety and quality of care.

Key Responsibilities

- Critical Care Management
- Assess, monitor, and manage critically ill patients admitted to the ICU.
- Provide timely diagnosis and treatment for patients with life-threatening conditions.
- Manage patients requiring ventilatory support, hemodynamic monitoring, and other critical care interventions.
- Monitor vital signs, laboratory reports, and clinical progress, and modify treatment plans as required.
- Emergency Management
- Respond promptly to medical emergencies, cardiac arrests, and clinical deterioration.
- Perform CPR, ACLS, and other emergency interventions as per clinical protocols and qualifications.
- Stabilize critically ill patients and coordinate timely escalation of care.
- Clinical Procedures
- Perform or supervise ICU procedures within the scope of training and privileges, including intubation, central line insertion, arterial line placement, and ventilator management, as applicable.
- Ensure appropriate documentation of procedures and informed consent wherever required.
- Coordination and Communication
- Coordinate with on-call consultants, surgeons, RMOs, nursing staff, and other clinical departments.




- Inform the concerned consultant promptly about significant changes in patient condition.
- Ensure proper handover of critical patients to the incoming medical team.
- Documentation and Compliance
- Maintain accurate patient assessment notes, treatment orders, progress notes, and emergency records.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, ICU protocols, infection control practices, and patient safety standards.
- Monitor rational medication use and ensure timely implementation of prescribed treatment.
- ICU Operations
- Supervise the clinical activities of ICU medical staff during the night shift.
- Ensure appropriate monitoring and continuity of care for all ICU patients.
- Escalate equipment failures, staffing concerns, and other critical operational issues to the concerned authority.

Qualifications and Experience

- MBBS with MD/DNB in Anaesthesiology, General Medicine, Critical Care Medicine, or an equivalent relevant qualification.
- Fellowship or additional qualification in Critical Care Medicine will be preferred.
- Prior experience in ICU and critical care management is essential.
- Experience in ventilator management, emergency resuscitation, and handling critically ill patients is preferred.
- Valid medical registration with the applicable medical council is mandatory.
