Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Java Engineering Manager to lead our UKBI engineering team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Java, microservices, serverless architecture, Docker, EKS and search technologies such as Solr or open search.
This role suits someone who has resolved high-priority search incidents in production and can work across a distributed, multi-cluster search estate. Day-to-day operations demand strong distributed search systems knowledge, hands-on comfort with that stack is essential.

• Lead and mentor a team of engineers, providing guidance and support for their professional development.




• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and deliver solutions that meet business needs.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies to drive innovation within the team.
• Design, develop, and implement scalable software solutions using Java, microservices architecture, Docker, EKS, Search systems with Solr or Open Search, AWS services
• Ensure high quality software delivery through best practices in coding, testing, and deployment.
• Actively participate in sprints, contributing hands-on to software development and implementation.
• Maintain unit tests and contribute to test automation to ensure software reliability and maintainability.
• Manage risks and technical impediments, communicating with leadership to ensure project success.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues efficiently.
• Provide technical guidance and support
