Job Summary
Ushur is seeking a Legal Counsel to support the commercial (customer deals), procurement, and day-to-day legal needs of a growing enterprise AI company serving regulated industries.
Location: Bengaluru, India; Work Mode: Hybrid.
Reporting directly to the Associate General Counsel, this role will work closely with stakeholders across Ushur's India and US office, with a particular focus on commercial contracting, procurement, AI and technology agreements, data protection, information security, and practical legal support for the business.

The role is well suited for a lawyer with 5 to 7 years of experience who wants to build broad in-house legal capabilities in an AI-first business. The right candidate will be comfortable working independently within clear escalation guidelines, collaborating directly with business teams, and developing practical judgment across the legal issues that arise in a regulated enterprise AI company.
Responsibilities
- Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of commercial and technology agreements, including:
- SaaS and subscription agreements
- Master Services Agreements (MSAs)
- Statements of Work (SOWs)
- Order Forms
- Vendor and supplier agreements
- Professional services and implementation agreements
- Partner, reseller and referral agreements
- NDAs, DPAs, and BAAs
- Advise on key commercial provisions including limitations of liability, indemnification, IP, confidentiality, data protection, security, warranties, SLAs, termination and insurance.
- Support customer and vendor contracting,
and help business teams navigate contractual issues and negotiations.
Business partnering and procurement
- Serve as a key legal point of contact for the India office, partnering closely with business stakeholders on day-to-day legal and commercial requests.
- Own legal review within the India procurement contracting process, including reviewing vendor agreements, negotiating terms, identifying risks and helping stakeholders move requests through to execution.
- Work with Finance, Procurement, HR, Information Security, Sales, Operations and other functions to identify and address legal and contractual issues.
- Develop robust relationships with stakeholders and provide practical, business-oriented legal advice.
Legal operations and broader support
- Maintain and improve contract templates, playbooks, standard positions and contracting workflows, and establish efficient processes for handling recurring requests.
- Assist the Associate General Counsel with a range of corporate, employment, compliance, procurement and other legal matters.
- Coordinate with external counsel on specialized matters where appropriate.
- Assist with legal research, regulatory developments and internal legal initiatives.
Qualifications
- Meaningful experience in SaaS, technology, software, IT services or technology-related commercial contracting.
- Strong communication (oral and written)
- Familiarity with technology contracts governed by US state/federal laws.
- Demonstrated ability to review and negotiate commercial agreements independently,
including engaging directly with counterparties.
- Ability to understand and assess commercial risk and provide practical, business-focused advice.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and competing priorities independently.
- Willingness to work in a fast-paced, evolving business environment.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Experience working with US-based customers, vendors or business teams.
- Experience supporting procurement and vendor contracting for businesses in India.
- Exposure to privacy, data protection, information security or technology transactions in the US and India.
- Experience working directly with Sales, Procurement, Finance, HR or Information Security teams.
Role Overview
This role is an opportunity to build broad in-house legal judgment at an enterprise AI company operating in highly regulated industries.
You will work directly with the Associate General Counsel and partner with business teams across India and global operations. The role goes beyond contract review: you will support commercial negotiations, procurement, privacy and security matters, employment-related issues, compliance initiatives, legal operations, and the day-to-day judgment calls that arise in a fast-moving AI business.
For the right candidate, this role offers meaningful ownership, direct mentorship, and a steep development curve. You will develop not only as a commercial and technology transactions lawyer, but as a practical in-house counsel who can advise the business, assess risk, improve processes, and help scale the legal function as Ushur grows.
