Solid Works Design Engineer Industrial Components Job Description Duties/: Develop 3D parametric parts, sheet metal components, weldments, castings, plastic enclosures, and complex mechanical assemblies using Solid Works. Generate detailed 2D production drawings, assembly layouts, sub/-assembly exploded views, and Bill of Materials /(BOM/) in compliance with ASME Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing /(GD&T;/) standards.
Perform structural, deflection, and stress evaluations using Solid Works Simulation /(FEA/) to validate design safety factors and optimize material usage. Apply Design for Manufacturability /(DFM/) and Design for Assembly /(DFA/) rules for CNC machining, sheet metal bending, stamping, injection molding, and welding operations.
Execute tolerance stack/-up analysis to verify fitments, clearances, and interferences in multi/-component mechanical assemblies. Manage Product Data Management /(PDM/) workflows, including check/-in/check/-out processes, Engineering Change Orders /(ECO/ECN/), part numbering, and revision tracking.




Collaborate with prototype fabricators, tool room engineers, quality teams, and procurement specialists during Recent Product Introduction /(NPI/) and design validation testing Focus Skills/: Advanced proficiency in Solid Works 3D CAD /(including Sheet Metal, Weldments, Surfacing, Motion Study, and Solid Works PDM/Vault/).
Solid working knowledge of ASME Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing /(GD&T;/) and mechanical clearance fit standards. Practical understanding of common manufacturing processes /(CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, plastic injection molding, casting, welding/).
Familiarity with Solid Works Simulation /(FEA/) for basic static structural, linear stress, and frequency analysis.
