Lead downstream process development at lab scale (bench centrifuges, small-scale

TFF, lab reactors, etc.) and execute scale-up to pilot plant systems (disk-stack centrifuges, pilot TFF skids, jacketed reactors, spray dryers, etc.)
Develop, optimize, and validate unit operations across the full DSP train: cell disruption, primary recovery, biotransformation, filtration, and drying
Design and execute lab-scale DoE studies to establish process design space prior to pilot campaigns
Author and execute Pilot Batch Records documenting mass balance, unit operation efficiency, yields, and process deviations
Collect and interpret engineering data (volumetric flow rates, pressure drops, heat transfer, yield losses) to support commercial plant design




Mentor junior DSP scientists and technicians; provide day-to-day technical direction to the DSP team
Collaborate closely with upstream fermentation, analytical, and quality teams to ensure process inputs and outputs are aligned
Ensure all operations comply with safety standards including dust explosion prevention (ATEX/NFPA) and biosafety norms
Identify and evaluate continuous flow processing approaches where applicable to improve throughput and process economics
