Key Responsibilities & Expertise

- Editing, rewriting, and proofreading Hindi news stories to ensure linguistic accuracy, factual correctness, and editorial excellence.
- Writing impactful headlines, sub-heads, intros, captions, and highlights in accordance with newspaper style and reader preferences.
- Reviewing news copies for language quality, grammar, news value, objectivity, and adherence to editorial standards.
- Processing and refining copies received from reporters, district correspondents, news agencies, and bureau offices for publication.
- Converting raw field reports into clear, concise, and publication-ready news content.
- Ensuring accuracy of facts, names, designations, figures, locations, and other critical information before publication.
- Coordinating closely with reporters, bureau chiefs, page designers, and the editorial desk to ensure timely and accurate news flow.
- Prioritizing and editing local, state, national, political, crime, civic, and feature stories based on newsworthiness and space requirements.
- Maintaining consistency in language, style, tone, and editorial policies across all published content.
- Working efficiently under strict newspaper deadlines to finalize pages for print publication.
- Monitoring agency feeds, reporter inputs, and emerging news developments to support comprehensive news coverage.
- Ensuring balanced, reader-focused,



and high-quality journalism that upholds the credibility and reputation of the newspaper.
- Contributing to increased readership through engaging presentation, strong news judgment, and professionally polished Hindi content.

Preferred candidate profile

- Experience in Hindi news editing, copy editing, content writing, or newsroom operations.
- Excellent command of Hindi language, grammar, spelling, and editorial standards.
- Solid ability to edit, rewrite, proofread, and enhance news copy while maintaining accuracy and readability.
- Sound understanding of local, state, national, political, crime, and current affairs coverage.
- Proficiency in writing impactful headlines, intros, captions, and news summaries.
- Experience working with Adobe InDesign and familiarity with newspaper page-making and print production workflows.
- Proficient in Hindi Unicode typing, with good typing speed and accuracy.
- Ability to work effectively under strict newspaper deadlines in a fast-paced newsroom environment.
- Strong fact-checking skills and attention to detail to ensure editorial accuracy and credibility.
- Familiarity with digital publishing platforms and online news content management systems will be an added advantage.
- Good interpersonal and coordination skills for working with reporters, correspondents, page designers, and editorial teams.
