Precision Electronics Limited (PEL)

1. Job Purpose
To effectively plan, schedule, monitor and control production activities to ensure on-time delivery, optimum utilization of manpower and machines, adequate material availability, controlled WIP and smooth production flow.
The PPC function shall act as the key coordination point between customer requirements, production capacity, material availability and actual shop-floor execution.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Production Planning

- Prepare daily, weekly and monthly production plans based on customer requirements and approved delivery schedules.
- Convert sales/customer requirements into practical production schedules.
- Prepare machine-wise and process-wise production plans.
- Consider machine capacity, manpower availability, tooling, fixtures, material and process lead time while preparing plans.
- Prioritize production orders based on customer delivery commitments and business requirements.
- Communicate production priorities to concerned departments.
- Revise production plans based on changes in customer requirements, material availability or capacity constraints.

B. Production Scheduling

- Prepare detailed production schedules for machining and other manufacturing operations.
- Ensure optimum machine loading and capacity utilization.
- Coordinate with Production Manager and Shift In-Charge for execution of the schedule.
- Monitor planned vs. actual production on a daily basis.
- Identify production bottlenecks and escalate them promptly.
- Ensure production schedules are realistic and achievable.

C. Material Planning & Availability

- Coordinate with Stores and Purchase to ensure timely availability of raw materials, bought-out items, tools and consumables.
- Identify material shortages against the production plan.
- Prepare and circulate material shortage reports.
- Follow up with Purchase for pending materials.
- Coordinate with Stores for material issue as per production priority.




- Avoid production stoppages due to planning-related material shortages.
- Monitor material availability against upcoming production requirements.

D. Capacity Planning

- Analyze machine capacity and production load.
- Prepare machine loading plans.
- Identify capacity constraints and bottlenecks.
- Coordinate with Production for alternate machine allocation wherever feasible.
- Monitor machine utilization and available capacity.

E. WIP Control

- Monitor Work-in-Progress at each production stage.
- Maintain optimum WIP levels.
- Track movement of jobs between processes.
- Identify jobs stuck at any stage and coordinate for resolution.
- Avoid unnecessary accumulation of WIP.
- Ensure production flow is aligned with customer delivery requirements.

F. Order & Job Tracking

- Track production orders/job cards from release to completion.
- Maintain job-wise production status.
- Monitor pending and overdue production orders.
- Prepare daily pending order reports.
- Highlight critical orders requiring management attention.
- Ensure timely closure of completed production orders in ERP/MIS.

G. Delivery Monitoring

- Track production against committed customer delivery dates.
- Prepare delivery-risk reports.
- Identify potential delays in advance.
- Coordinate with Production, Quality, Stores and Dispatch to ensure timely completion.
- Escalate critical delivery risks to the Production Manager/Plant Head.
- Support achievement of on-time delivery targets.

H. ERP / MIS Management

- Maintain accurate production planning data in ERP/MRP system.
- Ensure timely creation/release/update of production orders.




- Maintain production schedules and status in the system.
- Generate daily, weekly and monthly PPC MIS.
- Maintain planned vs. actual production reports.
- Prepare machine loading, WIP, shortage, pending order and delivery reports.
- Ensure data accuracy and timely updating.

I. Coordination with Production

- Conduct regular coordination with Production teams.
- Share daily production priorities.
- Monitor actual output against plan.
- Understand reasons for production shortfalls.
- Follow up on corrective actions.
- Support resolution of bottlenecks affecting production.

J. Coordination with Quality

- Ensure production priorities are aligned with quality inspection requirements.
- Track jobs pending due to quality inspection or rejection/rework.
- Monitor rework status for critical delivery orders.
- Coordinate with Quality for timely clearance of production lots.K. Coordination with Purchase & Stores

- Prepare material requirement/shortage reports.
- Follow up on critical purchase items.
- Ensure availability of material before releasing production priorities.
- Coordinate material issue and replenishment.
- Avoid unnecessary material movement and production interruptions.

K. Continuous Improvement

- Identify planning and scheduling inefficiencies.
- Improve production planning accuracy.
- Reduce production delays and bottlenecks.
- Improve machine loading and capacity utilization.
- Support Lean, Kaizen and process improvement initiatives.
- Use data and MIS to identify recurring planning problems.

3. Qualification Required

Educational Qualification
Preferred:

- B.E. / B.Tech. in Mechanical, Production, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering.

Experience

- Min 7 years of relevant experience in PPC/Production Planning.
- Experience in machining, precision engineering, automotive, defence or industrial manufacturing will be preferred.
- Experience in ERP-based production planning is required.
