Key Job Responsibilities

1. News Editing & Proofreading: Edit news scripts, reports, headlines, and news copy for grammar, spelling, clarity, and accuracy.

2. Gujarati Language Proficiency: Ensure correct Gujarati language, sentence structure, vocabulary, and skilled news-writing standards.

3. Fact-Checking: Verify names, dates, locations, designations, figures, and other factual details before publication or broadcast.

4. Headline Writing: Create clear, engaging, and accurate headlines, tickers, breaking-news straps, and captions.

5. News Script Editing: Refine reporters’ inputs, agency reports, and news desk copy into concise, broadcast-ready scripts.

6. Editorial Standards: Ensure news content follows the channel’s editorial guidelines, journalistic ethics, and applicable media regulations.

7. Coordination with News Desk: Work closely with reporters, sub-editors, producers, and assignment editors to improve news content.

8. Breaking News Updates: Quickly edit and update developing stories while maintaining accuracy and clarity under tight deadlines.

9. Translation & Adaptation: Translate or adapt news content from English or Hindi into fluent Gujarati, wherever required.

Legal and Sensitive Content Review: Flag potentially defamatory, misleading, unverified, or legally sensitive statements for editorial review.

11. Digital Content Editing: Edit website articles, social media captions, push notifications, and digital headlines as assigned.

12. Final Quality Check: Review scripts and on-screen text before broadcast to minimize editorial, grammatical, and factual errors.

Candidate Requirements

- Graduate in Journalism, Mass Communication, Gujarati, or a related field.
- Excellent command of written Gujarati; knowledge of Hindi and English is an advantage.
- Strong proofreading, editing, headline-writing, and fact-checking skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict newsroom deadlines.
- Prior experience in a television news channel or digital newsroom is preferred.
- Willingness to work rotational shifts, including during breaking-news coverage.
