JOB DESCRIPTION – DRAUGHTSMAN (MECHANICAL )

JOB SUMMARY

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Mechanical Draftsman to support the MEP design team in preparing mechanical service drawings, particularly HVAC layouts and related mechanical systems. The candidate will be responsible for preparing and modifying technical drawings using AutoCAD or Revit MEP under the guidance of senior engineers and draftsmen. The role also involves updating drawings based on engineering inputs, coordinating mechanical layouts with other disciplines, maintaining technical documentation, and supporting the preparation of shop drawings and as-built drawings to meet project requirements and deadlines.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Prepare and modify mechanical service drawings using AutoCAD or Revit MEP under the guidance of senior team members.
- Assist in developing HVAC ducting layouts, piping layouts, and mechanical equipment drawings.
- Prepare basic sections, elevations, and installation details based on engineering inputs.
- Convert engineering sketches, markups, and design information into accurate technical drawings.
- Update drawings based on engineer comments, consultant feedback, and project revisions.
- Coordinate mechanical layouts with architectural, electrical, plumbing, and other relevant drawings.
- Assist in identifying space constraints, service-routing issues, and potential clashes between mechanical systems and other building components.
- Check dimensions, levels, annotations, and drawing references to maintain technical accuracy.
- Support senior draftsmen and engineers in preparing mechanical shop drawings and installation details.
- Assist in preparing as-built drawings based on approved site changes and installation information.
- Maintain organized drawing files, revision records, and technical documentation.
- Follow project drafting standards, drawing conventions, and submission procedures.
- Coordinate with senior team members to clarify drawing requirements and resolve basic drafting issues.




- Ensure assigned drawings and revisions are completed within specified timelines.
- Participate in learning and improving drafting techniques, mechanical detailing, and drawing coordination practices.

REQUIRED SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

- Basic proficiency in AutoCAD for preparing and modifying mechanical drawings.
- Familiarity with Revit MEP will be an added advantage.
- Basic understanding of HVAC systems, ducting layouts, piping arrangements, and mechanical equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, engineering sketches, and project specifications.
- Understanding of dimensions, levels, annotations, and basic drafting standards.
- Basic knowledge of mechanical service coordination with architectural and electrical layouts.
- Willingness to learn MEP coordination, clash identification, and drawing revision procedures.
- Good attention to detail and accuracy in drafting work.
- Basic problem-solving skills and the ability to follow technical instructions.
- Good communication and coordination skills to work with engineers, draftsmen, and site teams.
- Ability to manage assigned tasks and meet drawing submission deadlines.
- Willingness to learn current software, tools, and industry practices.

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE

- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- 1-4 years of relevant experience in mechanical drafting, HVAC drafting, or MEP design support.
- Freshers with basic AutoCAD knowledge and an interest in mechanical drafting may also apply.
- Basic hands-on experience in preparing or modifying mechanical drawings will be preferred.
- Familiarity with HVAC ducting layouts, piping drawings, and mechanical equipment layouts is desirable.
- Knowledge of Revit MEP, BIM modelling, and MEP coordination will be an added advantage.
- Internship or training experience in mechanical drafting, HVAC design, or construction projects will be preferred.
- Ability to work under the guidance of senior engineers and draftsmen while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.

Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
