Job Summary

Social Studies Teacher educates students on history, geography, civics, economics, and culture to help them understand human society and global perspectives.

Job Overview

- Role Type: Full-time educator (middle school)
- Core Focus: Delivering curriculum on world/national history, government, geography, and current events
- Goal: Foster critical thinking, civil debate, and informed citizenship

Key Responsibilities

- Lesson Planning: Develop and execute age-appropriate lesson plans aligned with state, national, or board standards.
- Instruction & Discussion: Lead classroom lectures, map work, primary source analysis, and respectful student-led debates.
- Assessment & Grading: Evaluate student performance through quizzes, essays, projects, and standardized or board exams.
- Classroom Management: Maintain an inclusive, safe, and engaging learning environment.
- Student & Parent Communication: Track academic progress, maintain grade records, and meet with parents or guidance counselors.
- Extracurricular Support: Supervise field trips, history clubs, or school-wide civic initiatives.

Qualifications & Requirements

- Education:



Bachelor’s degree in Education, History, Geography, Political Science, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Certification: Valid state or regional teaching license/secondary education certification.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of historical timelines and civic systems
- Excellent communication and public-speaking skills
- Ability to facilitate neutral, open-minded class discussions
- Proficiency in classroom technology and digital learning tools
