Job Description: Senior Siemens Opcenter MES System Developer

Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Opcenter MES system developer to design, develop, configure, integrate, and support Siemens Opcenter MES solutions across manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience translating manufacturing requirements into scalable MES applications and will be responsible for both system design and software development.

Key Responsibilities

- Design and develop Siemens Opcenter MES solutions based on manufacturing and business requirements.
- Configure and customize Opcenter MES modules, workflows, screens, business rules, and reports.
- Develop integrations between Opcenter MES and ERP, PLM, automation, equipment, warehouse, quality, and other enterprise systems.
- Design application architecture, data models, interfaces, and technical specifications.
- Develop and maintain APIs, web services, database procedures, and integration components.
- Analyze existing manufacturing processes and recommend opportunities for standardization and automation.
- Participate in requirements gathering, solution design, development, testing, deployment, and production support.
- Troubleshoot system issues and perform root-cause analysis.
- Develop technical documentation, configuration guides, test plans, and support procedures.
- Collaborate with global manufacturing sites to implement consistent MES processes.
- Support data migration, system upgrades, validation, and release management.
- Follow software development, cybersecurity, change management, and IT governance standards.
- Provide technical guidance to project teams, business users, and other developers.

Required Qualifications

- Demonstrated experience designing and developing manufacturing execution systems.
- Hands-on experience with Siemens Opcenter MES or a comparable MES platform.
- Strong understanding of MES concepts, including:
- Workflows and production operations
- Dispatching and scheduling

- Experience with software design, application development, system configuration, and integration.

- Experience with the software development lifecycle, testing, deployment, and production support.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with global and cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience integrating Opcenter MES with ERP systems
- Experience with REST APIs, message brokers, middleware, and event-driven architectures.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms,



DevOps, CI/CD, Git, and automated testing.
- Experience supporting semiconductor, optical, electronics, or discrete manufacturing.
- Experience with digital twin, Industry 4.0, or smart factory initiatives.
- Siemens Opcenter certification or relevant professional certification.

Scope of Work

1. Business Requirements Gathering

- Engage with business stakeholders, production teams, quality, maintenance, warehouse, and IT teams to understand current manufacturing processes.
- Conduct workshops, interviews, and site visits to gather functional and non-functional requirements.
- Document business requirements and obtain stakeholder approval.

2. Process Analysis and Documentation

- Analyse existing ("As-Is") manufacturing processes and identify pain points and improvement opportunities.
- Design future-state ("To-Be") processes aligned with MES capabilities and business objectives.
- Develop process maps, workflow diagrams, and business process documentation.3. Requirements Management
- Create and maintain Business Requirements Documents (BRD), Functional Requirements Specifications (FRS), user stories, and acceptance criteria.
- Prioritise requirements based on business value, regulatory compliance, and project scope.
- Manage requirement traceability throughout the project lifecycle.

4. Gap Analysis

- Compare current business processes with standard MES functionality.
- Identify functional gaps and recommend process changes, system configuration, or customisations where necessary.
- Evaluate impacts on manufacturing operations and business processes.

5. Stakeholder Management

- Act as the primary liaison between business users, implementation partners, solution architects, developers, and project management.
- Facilitate discussions to resolve business and functional issues.
- Ensure stakeholder expectations are aligned throughout the implementation.

6. Functional Solution Design

- Collaborate with solution architects to translate business requirements into functional solutions.
- Review system configurations to ensure alignment with approved business requirements.
- Support the definition of workflows, business rules, and exception handling.

7. Integration Requirements





- Define business requirements for integrations between MES and enterprise systems such as ERP, SCADA, PLCs, LIMS, WMS, and quality systems.
- Work with integration teams to validate end-to-end business processes.
- Ensure data consistency and process continuity across integrated systems.

8. Master Data Management

- Identify manufacturing master data requirements, including products, materials, equipment, routing, work centers, recipes, and resources.
- Support data mapping, validation, and migration activities.
- Ensure data quality and governance standards are followed.

9. Testing Support

- Develop test scenarios and business test cases.
- Support System Integration Testing (SIT), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and production validation.
- Coordinate defect triage with business users and technical teams.
- Validate that implemented functionality meets business requirements.

10. Change Management and Training

- Assess business impacts resulting from new MES processes.
- Prepare training materials, user guides, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Conduct user training sessions and support organisational change management initiatives.

11. Deployment and Go-Live Support

- Assist in deployment planning and production readiness assessments.
- Support cutover activities and business validation during go-live.
- Monitor user adoption and provide functional support during hypercare.

12. Risk and Issue Management

- Identify business risks associated with MES implementation.
- Escalate issues affecting project scope, timeline, or operational readiness.
- Recommend mitigation strategies and participate in issue resolution.

13. Compliance and Quality Assurance

- Ensure MES processes comply with industry regulations, company standards, and quality requirements.
- Support audit readiness by maintaining complete and accurate business documentation.
- Verify that electronic records and manufacturing workflows meet applicable compliance requirements.

14. Continuous Improvement

- Collect user feedback after implementation.
- Identify opportunities for process optimization and system enhancements.
- Support future MES releases, upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives.
