Job Summary
XtendWorks connects skilled professionals with US and Canadian companies. We're hiring a detail-oriented General Accountant to manage the books for a portfolio of small and mid-sized North American clients. You'll own day-to-day accounting through month-end close in QuickBooks, juggle multiple deadlines, and be the go-to contact for client accounting questions.

This is a fully remote, full-time role. Some overlap with US business hours (Pacific or Eastern Time) is required.

Responsibilities

- Maintain accurate books for multiple clients in QuickBooks Online and Desktop
- Record daily transactions and prepare journal entries, including accruals
- Reconcile bank, credit card, and loan accounts monthly
- Manage AP and AR: vendor bills, payments, invoicing, and collections follow-up
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Prepare and file sales tax returns, and support other tax compliance
- Review and clean up client files: miscategorizations, stale items, unreconciled periods
- Support month-end and year-end close
- Answer client accounting and reporting questions clearly and promptly
- Apply GAAP consistently across all client files

Requirements





- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 2+ years of hands-on accounting experience, ideally in public accounting or client bookkeeping
- Strong QuickBooks proficiency (Online and/or Desktop)
- Solid GAAP and accrual accounting knowledge: GL reconciliation, journal entries, account analysis, financial statements
- Robust Excel skills (lookups, pivot tables, reconciliation workpapers)
- Ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines without losing accuracy
- Clear written and verbal English communication

Nice to Have

- Experience with Xero or Sage
- Sales tax filing experience across multiple states
- Non-profit, LIHTC, or regulatory reporting experience
- QuickBooks ProAdvisor certification
