Job Description – Plant Head

Position: Plant Head
Industry: Commercial Kitchen Equipment Manufacturing
Experience: 10–15+ years in manufacturing/plant operations, preferably in stainless-steel fabrication, commercial kitchen equipment, or similar engineering industry
Reporting To: Management / Director

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced and result-oriented Plant Head to oversee the complete plant operations, including production, planning, quality, maintenance, stores, manpower, and timely project execution.

The ideal candidate should have strong experience in SS fabrication, commercial kitchen equipment manufacturing, production planning, and team management, with the ability to ensure smooth operations from raw material procurement to final dispatch.

Key Responsibilities

1. Production & Operations

- Manage and supervise complete plant operations.
- Ensure production targets are achieved as per project requirements and timelines.
- Plan daily and weekly production schedules based on approved orders and SFD/BOQ.
- Monitor fabrication, welding, polishing, assembly, electrical and other production activities.
- Ensure optimum utilization of manpower, machines, and materials.
- Identify production bottlenecks and implement corrective actions.

2. Production Planning & Project Execution

- Coordinate with Design, Sales, Purchase, Stores, and Projects teams.
- Ensure production starts only after receiving approved drawings/SFD and required materials.
- Track project-wise production status and ensure timely completion.
- Monitor pending activities and take necessary actions to avoid delays.
- Ensure equipment is ready for inspection and dispatch as per schedule.

3. Quality Control





- Ensure products are manufactured as per approved drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
- Monitor dimensions, finishing, welding quality, assembly, and functionality.
- Reduce rejection, rework, material wastage, and customer complaints.
- Implement quality control checks at different stages of production.

4. Manpower Management

- Manage production supervisors, fabricators, welders, fitters, electricians, helpers, and other plant staff.
- Allocate manpower according to production priorities.
- Monitor attendance, productivity, discipline, and performance.
- Train and develop the production team.

5. Material & Inventory Coordination

- Coordinate with Purchase and Stores for timely availability of raw materials.
- Monitor material consumption and wastage.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of SS sheets, pipes, fittings, components, and other materials.
- Minimize material losses and production wastage.

6. Maintenance & Safety

- Ensure proper maintenance of machinery, tools, and equipment.
- Plan preventive maintenance to minimize machine breakdowns.
- Ensure compliance with plant safety procedures.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized working environment.

7. Cost & Productivity

- Control production costs and minimize wastage.
- Improve productivity and manufacturing efficiency.
- Monitor overtime, manpower utilization, material consumption, and rework.




- Implement process improvements and cost-saving initiatives.

8. MIS & Reporting

- Prepare and share regular production and plant performance reports with management.
- Track project-wise production status, pending work, manpower, material requirements, and dispatch readiness.
- Conduct regular production review meetings.
- Highlight critical issues and provide timely solutions to management.

Required Skills

- Robust knowledge of SS 304/316 fabrication and commercial kitchen equipment manufacturing.
- Excellent production planning and execution skills.
- Strong knowledge of welding, fabrication, polishing, assembly, and finishing processes.
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and SFDs.
- Strong leadership and team-management skills.
- Good problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Knowledge of ERP/MIS and production tracking systems.
- Strong coordination with cross-functional departments.
- Ability to work under strict project deadlines.

Qualification

Diploma/B.E./B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or a related field.

Preferred Candidate

Candidates from commercial kitchen equipment, stainless-steel fabrication, food-service equipment, industrial fabrication, or similar manufacturing industries will be preferred.
