Aasraa Trust is a Dehradun-based non-profit organization working since 2009 to empower vulnerable and marginalized children through education, nutrition, shelter, life skills, and vocational training.

Through its Street to School to Skills model, Aasraa supports children from disadvantaged backgrounds and helps them access education, develop essential life skills, and build pathways toward independent and sustainable futures.

Over the past 16 years, Aasraa has impacted more than 28,000 children and currently works with over 11,000 children across Dehradun, Udham Singh Nagar, and Pauri Garhwal districts of Uttarakhand.

Job Summary

We are looking for a passionate and skilled Soft Skills Trainer to equip students and young people from underserved communities with essential communication, interpersonal, and workplace-readiness skills.

The selected candidate will design and deliver engaging training sessions, with a special focus on communicative English, professional behaviour, interview preparation, career guidance, and employability skills. The role requires someone who can build trainees’ confidence, adapt training methods to different learning levels, and prepare young people for employment and workplace challenges.

Key Responsibilities

1. Training and Curriculum Development

- Design and deliver training sessions on communication, teamwork, leadership, problem-solving, emotional intelligence, and workplace etiquette.
- Conduct communicative English sessions covering everyday conversations and professional communication.
- Use interactive teaching methods such as role-plays, group discussions, storytelling, and practical activities.
- Develop and update training materials based on trainees’ learning needs and industry requirements.
- Introduce relevant topics such as entrepreneurship, green skills, customer service, and hospitality-related skills.

2. Trainee Mentorship and Career Readiness





- Provide individual mentorship, career counselling, and guidance to trainees.
- Conduct mock interviews, resume-writing workshops, and interview preparation sessions.
- Help trainees develop confidence, professional behaviour, and effective communication skills.
- Support trainees in identifying and overcoming personal and skilled barriers to employment.

3. Monitoring, Evaluation, and Documentation

- Conduct pre- and post-training assessments to evaluate learning outcomes.
- Monitor trainee progress, participation, and skill development.
- Collect and analyse trainee feedback to improve training effectiveness.
- Maintain attendance records, session reports, assessment results, and other programme documentation.
- Develop new training modules and improve existing content in line with programme goals and industry trends.

4. Teaching and Learning Environment

- Adapt training approaches to trainees from different educational and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Create an inclusive, supportive, and engaging learning environment.
- Use digital tools, presentations, online learning platforms, and other relevant resources to enhance training delivery.

5. Coordination and Stakeholder Engagement

- Coordinate with vocational trainers, programme teams, employers, and industry professionals.
- Support guest lectures, exposure visits, and employer-interaction sessions.
- Collaborate with the team to strengthen trainee development and employment readiness.
- Understand the challenges faced by vulnerable youth and ensure inclusive, learner-centred training.

Educational Qualifications

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Education, Communication, Human Resources,



or a related field.
- Certification in soft skills training, life skills, behavioural training, or a related area will be an added advantage.

Experience Required

- Min 3 years of relevant experience in soft skills training, life skills education, career counselling, employability training, or career development programmes.
- Experience in the education, nonprofit, vocational training, or development sector is preferred.
- Experience in communicative English, grooming, hospitality, customer service, or workplace-readiness training will be an advantage.

- Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Strong command of spoken English and the ability to teach communicative English.
- Ability to facilitate interactive sessions and engage learners effectively.
- Strong mentoring, counselling, and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of employability skills, workplace expectations, and career development.
- Proficiency in MS Office and Google Workspace.
- Strong documentation, reporting, planning, and coordination skills.
- Empathy, patience, adaptability, and a commitment to working with underserved communities.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

- Timely delivery of assigned training sessions in accordance with the planned curriculum.
- Improvement in trainee performance through pre- and post-training assessments.
- Active trainee participation in practical exercises and group activities.
- Development or updating of at least two training modules per quarter.
- Regular delivery of career-readiness activities, including mock interviews and resume-building workshops.
- Collection and analysis of trainee feedback for continuous improvement.
- Accurate and timely maintenance of attendance, training, assessment, and progress records.
