Job Description: Academic Guidance Counsellor

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Academic Guidance Counsellor to guide senior school students in academic planning, career exploration, higher education opportunities and university admissions. The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of Indian and international university application processes, excellent communication skills and the ability to work closely with students, parents and school management.

Key Responsibilities

- Guide students in selecting suitable courses, colleges and universities based on their interests, academic performance and future aspirations.
- Assist students with university shortlisting, profile building, application documentation, essays, Statements of Purpose (SOPs) and Letters of Recommendation (LORs).
- Provide guidance on Indian and international university admissions, eligibility criteria, application requirements and deadlines.
- Conduct individual counselling sessions with students and parents to discuss academic pathways and higher education opportunities.
- Organise university fairs, career weeks, university networking sessions, alumni talks and workshops.
- Research universities, courses, scholarships, internships and summer programmes to help students make informed decisions.
- Coordinate with university representatives, teachers, parents and school leadership to support students throughout the admissions process.




- Develop and implement academic guidance programmes and student profile-building activities.
- Monitor university application progress and ensure timely submission of applications and supporting documents.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of the school's academic guidance and counselling processes.

Required Qualifications and Experience

- 8–10+ years of relevant experience in academic guidance, school counselling, career counselling or university admissions.
- Solid understanding of Indian and international university application processes.
- Experience guiding senior secondary students, particularly Classes 9–12, is preferred.
- Proven experience in university shortlisting, application management and student profile development.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, research and organisational skills.
- Ability to work effectively with students, parents, teachers and other stakeholders.
- Leadership, programme coordination and team management experience would be an advantage.

The ideal candidate should be student-focused, proactive and knowledgeable about higher education pathways. They should have hands-on experience supporting students through the university admissions journey and the ability to manage multiple applications, organise guidance initiatives and build strong relationships with students, parents and universities.
