Company Overview

UZIO is a US payroll and HR technology platform that helps employers run payroll, manage HR, and stay compliant with payroll tax requirements. UZIO primarily serves Amazon Delivery Service Partners (DSPs), along with a growing base of other businesses, and handles payroll tax work on its clients’ behalf.

Position Overview

UZIO is onboarding new clients at an increasing pace. Every payroll implementation needs a matching tax implementation so the client’s first payroll runs with correct tax setup. As the Payroll Tax Implementation Specialist, you will own the tax side of new client onboarding, working in parallel with the Implementation team from kickoff through go-live. You will collect and verify tax information, set up clients in MasterTax and the UZIO payroll platform, manage prior-provider transitions, and hand off clean, documented accounts to the ongoing tax analysts. You will join a small, hands-on US tax team and report directly to the Director of Tax Administration.

Key Responsibilities

- Tax information collection: Collect and verify federal and state tax setup details, including FEIN, state withholding and SUI/UI account numbers, SUI rates, local tax IDs, deposit frequencies, and powers of attorney (IRS Form 8655 and state POAs).
- System setup: Set up recent clients and jurisdictions in MasterTax, the tax filing system, and in the UZIO payroll platform.
- Pre-payroll validation: Validate tax setup before the first payroll and catch errors early, before they turn into agency notices, under-withholding, or tax corrections.
- Prior-provider transitions:

Gather and load prior quarter-to-date and year-to-date tax balances, and reconcile prior liabilities and deposits.
- Agency registrations: Register or follow up on state and local tax accounts where needed, track pending agency IDs, and follow up with clients for missing information.
- Cross-team coordination: Work with Implementation and Support so tax readiness keeps pace with payroll go-live dates. Payroll typically goes live about 12 to 14 days after time tracking goes live, so timing matters.
- Tracking and documentation: Maintain the tax implementation tracker and checklist, document procedures, and hand off each client cleanly to the ongoing tax analysts.
- Automation: Use AI agents and automation tools for routine document gathering and status follow-up, while applying your own judgment to exceptions and complex cases.
- Peak season support: Support the team during quarter-end and year-end peaks, including Q4 close and January W-2 season, as needed.

Qualifications

- 2 to 4+ years of experience in US payroll tax, payroll implementation, or payroll tax compliance.
- Working knowledge of state withholding, SUI, and local taxes across multiple US states.
- Strong Excel and data validation skills.
- Clear,

professional written English for client and tax agency follow-up.
- Highly detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage many implementations at once and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work with partial overlap with US Central business hours.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with MasterTax or a similar payroll tax filing system.
- Bachelor’s degree in commerce, accounting, or finance.
- Experience with a US PEO or payroll service bureau.
- Familiarity with IRS Form 8655, state POAs, and state agency registration processes.

What Success Looks Like in the First 90 Days

- First 30 days: Learn UZIO’s implementation process, the payroll platform, and MasterTax. Shadow active tax implementations and become familiar with the tracker, checklist, and handoff process.
- By 60 days: Independently own tax setup for a set of new clients, including information collection, POA, system setup, and prior-provider balances, with review from the Director.
- By 90 days: Own tax setup for new clients end to end and on schedule, with tax readiness confirmed before each first payroll. Keep the tracker current, produce clean handoffs to the tax analysts, and identify at least one process or automation improvement.

Why Join UZIO?

- Work on a cutting-edge SaaS platform revolutionizing HR, Payroll, and Expense Management.
- Collaborate with a high-growth, innovation-driven team.
- Competitive salary and growth opportunities.
