What You Will Own

In this role, you will administer, secure, and optimize Tally’s production and non-production databases across MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, and NoSQL/distributed platforms such as MongoDB, Aerospike, and ClickHouse. You will be responsible for availability, performance, backup and recovery, replication, and security, while working closely with application, engineering, DevOps, and infrastructure teams.

Where Your Expertise Meets Our Future

- 3–5 years of hands-on DBA experience in production environments, with strong command of MySQL, MariaDB, or PostgreSQL (SQL, indexing, transactions, locking/concurrency, execution plans).
- Hands-on experience in performance tuning, backup/recovery, replication/HA, and database security.
- Practical experience with at least one NoSQL/distributed database such as MongoDB, Aerospike, ClickHouse, Redis, or equivalent Strong Linux/Unix fundamentals and shell scripting, with an automation mindset.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, problem-solving, communication, and RCA skills.
- Comfort working across multiple database technologies and supporting production systems, including on-call as required
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical discipline preferred

The Scope of Your Influence

Database Administration & Maintenance:

- Administer production and non-production databases, including installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, and ongoing maintenance.




- Manage database environments across MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, and NoSQL/distributed platforms such as MongoDB, Aerospike, and ClickHouse.
- Execute database upgrades, patching, and migration projects in coordination with dependent application teams.

Monitoring & Troubleshooting:

- Monitor availability, health, capacity, performance, replication, and resource utilization to maintain uptime and reliability.
- Troubleshoot production issues, providing root cause analysis (RCA) and implementing fixes in a timely manner.
- Participate in on-call support as required and in post-incident reviews.

Performance Tuning & Optimization:

- Perform SQL/query tuning, execution-plan analysis, indexing, and configuration optimization.
- Troubleshoot locks, blocking, deadlocks, and resource bottlenecks.
- Identify opportunities to improve database efficiency through benchmarking and capacity analysis.

Backup, Recovery & High Availability:

- Implement and maintain backup, restore, and recovery processes for business-critical databases.
- Set up and manage high-availability and replication architectures.
- Implement disaster-recovery processes and participate in DR testing and RCA

Security & Access Management:

- Manage database users, roles, privileges, and access controls.
- Implement auditing and database security best practices.
- Review access and audit trails regularly to keep database environments aligned with security best practices.

Collaboration & Delivery:

- Work with application, engineering, DevOps, and infrastructure teams on database design, schema changes, deployments, and migrations.
- Support incident response with cross-team partners to restore service quickly and prevent recurrence.
- Learn and adopt recent database technologies as platform and business needs evolve.

Automation, Documentation & Continuous Improvement:

- Automate DBA activities using Linux/Unix shell scripting; Python or similar scripting is a plus.
- Maintain database documentation, monitoring and alerting, operational procedures, and change records.
- Explore cloud database services and infrastructure automation to streamline database operations
