Must have
• 10 or more years as a hands-on SQL Server DBA in production environments. Not as a developer who also did some DBA work. We will test this in the interview with real scenarios.
• Deep knowledge of SQL Server 2016 through 2022 internals. Storage engine, transaction log, locking and isolation levels, query optimizer, memory management, tempdb.
• At least 4 years running Azure SQL Database in production. You know what it cannot do compared with on premises SQL Server and how to work around it.
• Working experience with Azure Data Factory in a production environment. You can read a pipeline, find why a run failed, fix a linked service, dataset, or parameter, and redeploy it. You do not need to be the person who designed it.
• Experience supporting SSRS and Power BI workloads that depend on SQL Server, including gateway and connection troubleshooting.
• Proven HA and DR design and operation,
including at least one real failover you handled under pressure.
• Advanced T-SQL and PowerShell scripting.
• Strong performance tuning track record with examples you can walk through in detail.
• Solid spoken and written English. You will lead calls with US client staff, write incident reports and change requests, and present recommendations to managers. Fluent, clear, direct.
• Working knowledge of US client norms. Direct communication, saying no early, giving bad news fast, committing to dates you can hit, and speaking up in meetings without being asked.
• Willingness to work the shifted schedule and manage production issues when needed.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
