Role Description

This is a remote role supporting the growth of Steps Software Solutions’ Azure Databricks and data engineering services. Candidates anywhere in India are welcome to apply, with a preference for those based in Chennai who can join occasional in-person meetings and local industry events. The Business Development Associate will work directly with the leadership team to generate opportunities, build relationships with prospects and partners, and support the sales process from first contact through to signed engagements.

Day-to-day responsibilities include researching and building target account lists of companies with active Azure Databricks needs (migrations, pipeline development, cost optimization, governance, or implementation support); conducting outbound outreach via email, phone, and LinkedIn to CTOs, VPs of Engineering, Heads of Data,



and Data Engineering Managers; booking and joining discovery calls; preparing briefing notes before calls and capturing requirements after them; and following up with prospects in a structured way.

The role also supports partner development, including reaching out to larger Databricks and Azure consulting partners for subcontracting opportunities and helping maintain relationships with Databricks and Microsoft field teams. The BDA will assist with preparing proposals and presentations, keeping CRM and pipeline records accurate, registering opportunities in the Databricks Partner Portal, and creating sales content such as LinkedIn posts and case study drafts.

This is a learning-focused role. The BDA will receive training on Databricks, Azure data services, and consultative selling, and will gradually take ownership of more of the sales cycle, with a clear path to a Business Development Manager role for robust performers.
