Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Senior Manager – Transport Sourcing & Cost Optimization to lead transportation sourcing, vendor development, freight procurement, and cost optimization across India.

The role will focus on building a robust direct local and regional transporter network, reducing dependency on brokers/aggregators, negotiating competitive freight rates, and improving cost visibility across lanes, vendors, and vehicle categories.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop and execute transportation sourcing strategy for FTL, LTL and last-mile transportation.
- Identify and onboard local and regional transporters, fleet owners and direct vendors across India.
- Build a strong primary, secondary and backup vendor network for key lanes and regions.
- Conduct freight rate benchmarking, market analysis and lane-wise rate negotiations.
- Negotiate freight rates, fuel/toll clauses, detention charges and commercial terms.
- Drive transportation cost-saving initiatives through rate rationalization, backhaul utilization, route consolidation and multi-vendor bidding.
- Develop and maintain lane-wise, vendor-wise and vehicle-wise rate cards and cost MIS.
- Track monthly/quarterly transportation savings against budget and baseline.
- Analyze ERP/TMS data to identify high-cost lanes, utilization gaps and cost optimization opportunities.
- Manage vendor contracts, SLAs, compliance and performance reviews.
- Monitor vendor performance including vehicle placement, delivery performance, claims, documentation and compliance.




- Coordinate with Operations, Finance, Sales and Control Tower teams for sourcing and cost decisions.
- Identify and phase out high-cost or consistently underperforming vendors.
- Lead and mentor sourcing executives/vendor coordinators.
- Travel across regions for market visits, transporter development, vendor audits and negotiations.

Required Experience & Skills

- 5+ years of experience in transportation sourcing, freight procurement, logistics vendor management or transport procurement.
- Strong hands-on experience in vendor sourcing and localization, preferably with direct local/regional transporters.
- Deep understanding of Indian transportation markets, transport hubs, freight corridors and regional transporter networks.
- Experience managing Pan-India / multi-state transportation vendors.
- Strong knowledge of FTL, LTL, last-mile and surface transportation.
- Proven experience in freight rate negotiation and transportation cost reduction.
- Strong analytical skills with experience in Advanced Excel, MIS, rate cards and cost analysis.
- Working knowledge of ERP/TMS systems.
- Strong vendor management, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- Willingness to travel extensively across India for vendor development and market visits.

Education

Graduate in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, Engineering or related field. MBA/PGDM in Operations/Supply Chain will be an advantage.
