We are looking for an experienced Weaving & Fabric Quality professional to join our Product R&D; team and help us develop the next generation of AI-powered weaving and fabric inspection systems.
The ideal candidate will have strong practical knowledge of weaving, fabric quality, fabric inspection, and defect identification. Experience in both weaving operations and fabric sourcing/quality inspection would be a major advantage.
This is not a conventional textile-quality role. You will work closely with our AI, computer vision, software and hardware engineers to translate textile-domain knowledge into intelligent automated inspection solutions.
Key Responsibilities
1. Weaving & Fabric Expertise
- Understand weaving processes, machine operations and fabric construction.
- Identify and classify common weaving and fabric defects.
- Understand defect causes, severity, frequency and impact on fabric quality.
- Define acceptable/rejectable quality standards for different fabric types.
- Analyse defects from grey fabric through final inspection.
2. AI-Based Inspection Product Development
- Work closely with computer-vision engineers to develop AI-based weaving/fabric inspection systems.
- Create and maintain a comprehensive weaving defect taxonomy.
- Identify which defects can be detected through cameras, lighting and AI.
- Help define camera positioning, lighting requirements and inspection methodologies.
- Validate AI models against actual fabric defects.
- Continuously improve detection accuracy through real-world factory feedback.
3. R&D; and Product Development
- Participate actively in developing new inspection technologies and product features.
- Conduct trials on different weaving machines, fabric constructions and defect types.
- Convert customer/factory problems into product requirements.
- Develop inspection standards, test protocols and acceptance criteria.
- Work with engineering teams to troubleshoot and improve the system.
4. Customer & Factory Interaction
- Visit weaving mills and fabric processing units for product trials.
- Understand customer quality problems and translate them into technical requirements.
- Support demonstrations, PoCs and product installations.
- Train customers and internal teams on fabric defects and inspection standards.
Ideal Candidate We are looking for someone who has:
- 5–10 years of experience in one or more of:
- Weaving
- Fabric quality
- Fabric inspection
- Textile sourcing / technical sourcing
- Textile production
- Quality assurance
- Strong knowledge of woven fabric defects and their root causes.
- Practical experience working with weaving mills is highly desirable.
- Experience in fabric inspection systems or quality standards is a strong advantage.
- Experience in both weaving + fabric sourcing/quality inspection would be exceptional.
Most Important — R&D; Mindset The candidate should be curious and hands-on, rather than someone who only follows established quality procedures. They should be excited about questions such as:
- Can this defect be detected automatically?
- What does the defect actually look like to a camera?
- What lighting would make it easier for AI to detect?
- How early can we detect it?
- Can we prevent this defect rather than simply identify it?
They will be expected to learn enough about AI, computer vision and automated inspection to work effectively with our engineering team. No deep AI programming background is required, but strong aptitude and willingness to learn technology is essential.
Qualifications
- Diploma/B.E./B.Tech/M.Tech in Textile Technology, Textile Engineering or related field.
- 5–10 years relevant industry experience.
- Strong practical knowledge of weaving and fabric quality.
- Positive analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable working in factories and conducting experiments/trials.
- Good communication skills in English.
- Willingness to travel to textile manufacturing facilities when required.
