Job Title: Male Warden

Location: Chandigarh University, Gharuan, Mohali, Punjab

Job Purpose:

The Male Warden will be responsible for the day-to-day management and supervision of the boys hostel, ensuring a safe, disciplined, hygienic, and student-friendly residential environment. The role involves monitoring student activities, enforcing hostel rules and regulations, addressing student concerns, maintaining discipline, and coordinating with university departments for the smooth functioning of hostel facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

Hostel Administration and Management

Manage the daily operations of the boys hostel and ensure the smooth functioning of hostel activities.

Maintain accurate records of student occupancy, room allotments, attendance, leave requests, and hostel entry and exit.

Ensure compliance with university hostel rules, regulations, and residential policies.

Conduct regular rounds of hostel premises to monitor activities and maintain discipline.

Student Discipline and Welfare

Ensure students follow hostel timings, attendance requirements, visitor policies, and the university’s code of conduct.

Address student complaints, concerns, and interpersonal conflicts professionally and promptly.

Promote a respectful, secure, and inclusive living environment for all hostel residents.

Counsel students on discipline, personal responsibility, and appropriate hostel conduct when required.

Safety and Security

Monitor hostel entry and exit procedures and coordinate with security personnel.

Ensure compliance with hostel safety protocols and report incidents, violations, or suspicious activities to the concerned authorities.

Respond promptly to emergencies, medical situations, and safety-related concerns.

Coordinate with university security and medical teams whenever necessary.

Housekeeping and Maintenance

Ensure cleanliness,



hygiene, and proper upkeep of hostel rooms, washrooms, corridors, common areas, and other facilities.

Coordinate with housekeeping, maintenance, electrical, plumbing, and other support teams to resolve issues.

Conduct periodic inspections of hostel facilities and report maintenance requirements.

Monitor the proper use of hostel property, furniture, equipment, and other resources.

Reporting and Documentation

Maintain daily logs of hostel activities, student attendance, incidents, complaints, and inspections.

Prepare periodic reports on hostel operations, discipline, maintenance, and student welfare.

Report major incidents, rule violations, and unresolved concerns to the designated reporting authority.

Maintain confidentiality of student records and sensitive information.

Educational Qualifications

Graduate in any discipline from a recognized university.

Candidates with qualifications in Hotel Management, Hospitality, Administration, Social Work, or a related field will be preferred.

Experience

2–5 years of relevant experience in hostel administration, residential facility management, student affairs, or a similar role.

Experience in a university, college, school hostel, or other residential institution will be an advantage.

Required Skills and Competencies

Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Good student-management and conflict-resolution abilities.

Knowledge of hostel administration, discipline management, and safety procedures.

Ability to handle emergencies calmly and responsibly.

Good organizational, record-keeping, and reporting skills.

Proficiency in MS Office and basic computer applications.

Integrity, patience, accountability, and a student-focused approach.

Willingness to work in shifts and remain available for hostel emergencies, as required.
