We are seeking a Tech Lead/Engineering Manager with a background in hands-on Avaloq engineering and strong technical and team leadership skills to lead a team of 5–6 junior engineers.

You will combine hands-on development with responsibility for technical delivery, code quality and the development of your team within a Private Banking environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and mentor a team of 5–6 junior engineers, providing technical guidance, regular feedback and support with their development.
- Oversee the end-to-end delivery of Avaloq changes, including design, development, testing and deployment, while contributing hands-on to complex development tasks.
- Translate business requirements into technical solutions, break work into manageable tasks and allocate responsibilities appropriate to each engineer’s capability.
- Review code and technical designs, ensuring solutions meet development standards, testing requirements and documentation expectations.
- Work closely with business stakeholders, architects and other technology teams to deliver projects, enhancements and ongoing platform improvements.
- Guide technical decisions across Avaloq customisation, interfaces, end-of-day processing and deployment, escalating complex architectural issues where required.
- Support Agile delivery through sprint planning, backlog refinement and management of technical dependencies and blockers.
- Work with testing colleagues to improve test automation, release quality and deployment processes using DevOps practices.
- Support production incident investigation and resolution,



addressing root causes and reducing recurring issues.
- Manage day-to-day team performance, training and development, and support recruitment and onboarding.
- Ensure the team follows relevant risk, control and governance requirements, escalating delivery risks and control weaknesses promptly.

Skills & Experience

- Solid hands-on experience in the customisation and implementation of the Avaloq Banking System.
- Previous experience as a Tech Lead, Engineering Manager or Senior Engineer with responsibility for guiding and developing junior engineers.
- A good understanding of Private Banking and relevant Avaloq product areas, such as trading, corporate actions, payments, settlements, credit, finance or client management.
- Experience across the software development lifecycle, including technical design, development, testing, deployment and production support.
- A strong understanding of Avaloq interfaces, end-of-day processing and deployment automation.
- Experience reviewing code, establishing engineering standards and helping less experienced developers improve their technical skills.
- Practical knowledge of Agile delivery and DevOps, with a focus on reliable releases and continuous improvement.
- The ability to assess technical options, explain trade-offs and make sound decisions in collaboration with architects and stakeholders.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical issues clearly and manage delivery expectations.
- A proactive approach to identifying risks, resolving blockers and maintaining quality across the team’s work.
