About Us

Schengen Visa Consultancy Limited is a UK-based visa consultancy helping customers with visa appointments, documentation, and application support. We are improving our technology platform to automate operational processes, enhance our internal CRM, and build more efficient systems as the business grows.

Role Overview

We are looking for a hands-on Software Engineer to work directly with the founder on appointment-booking automation, CRM development, backend integrations, and maintenance of our existing software platform.

The primary focus will be building reliable automation systems and improving our CRM . Website development and maintenance will be secondary responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

1. Appointment Automation

- Develop and maintain browser automation using Playwright or Selenium.
- Automate repetitive booking and operational workflows where permitted.
- Troubleshoot failed scripts, session issues, timeouts, and website changes.
- Improve automation reliability through error handling, logging, retries, and monitoring.
- Test and maintain existing automation systems.

2. CRM and Backend Development

- Develop new features and maintain our existing CRM.
- Fix bugs and improve customer records, appointment tracking, and internal workflows.
- Build and integrate REST APIs with internal and third-party systems.
- Work with databases, write SQL queries, and maintain data consistency.
- Develop scheduled tasks and background jobs to automate repetitive processes.

Website and System Maintenance

- Maintain existing company websites and related backend functionality.
- Fix technical issues and implement small enhancements when required.
- Support integrations involving payments, email, messaging, and other services.
- Assist with deployments, application logs, debugging, and basic server maintenance.
- Follow good practices for testing, version control, security, and documentation.

4. Collaboration

- Work directly with the founder to understand requirements and priorities.
- Convert business requirements into practical technical solutions.
- Provide regular progress updates and communicate blockers early.
- Document important changes and ensure new features work reliably.

Required Skills

- Strong programming fundamentals in Java, JavaScript, or a comparable language.
- Practical experience with Playwright or Selenium and browser automation.
- Understanding of REST APIs, HTTP requests, JSON, and API integrations.
- Experience with SQL and relational databases such as MySQL or MariaDB.
- Familiarity with Git/GitHub, debugging, testing, and reading existing codebases.
- Ability to investigate problems independently and develop maintainable solutions.

Good to Have

- Experience with React, TypeScript, Node.js, Java,



or Spring Boot.
- Familiarity with Linux servers, scheduled jobs, background workers, and deployments.
- Experience integrating payment gateways, email, telephony, or messaging services.
- Experience using AI coding tools while being able to understand and test the code produced.

Candidates do not need to know every technology listed above. Strong fundamentals and relevant practical experience are more important.

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone with approximately 2–4 years of relevant experience who enjoys solving technical problems, improving existing software, and building reliable automation.

This is a hands-on individual contributor role, not a CTO or engineering management position. The candidate should be comfortable working independently on assigned tasks while collaborating closely with the founder.
